Position Purpose The Trade Marketing Manager will analyze and synthesize sales, portfolio, marketing, and category data to provide guidance and generate insights for internal and external customers to make business decisions. This would include internal corporate reporting on all key initiatives, business case studies, account, portfolio, and market sales, spend, and trends, and business and trade spend efficiencies. The position provides support specifically focused on our internal data warehouse information and accuracy, develop reporting and analyze at the account and portfolio/product level, and corporate aggregating and reporting on both. This position will use all available resources available to provide category management support including analysis, trade strategy, and financials. Direct involvement with all Sales Channels initiatives, budget, trade spend and analysis, new items development and launch, and forecasting processes. This position will provide support in managing the promotional approval documentation process, budget development, internal costing, ROI, and customer pricing. Also, they will have contact with Finance, Operations, and Marketing as a data representative for the Sales team.

Requirements

  • At least 7 years of sales analytics experience, managing expenditures, and implementing budget plans.
  • CPG Pet Industry experience is a plus.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Sales, Marketing or Business Management or equivalent work experience with demonstrated success.
  • Internal data warehouse experience and expertise.
  • Ability to think strategically, creatively, and analytically.
  • Fast-paced multi-tasking efficiency, and time management skills necessary.
  • Personal work ethic, commitment to task, and drive for success.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills (oral and written) to a variety of audiences.
  • Comfortable setting priorities, managing multiple tasks, planning cross functionally, and remaining focused in a changing environment.
  • Experience using Repsly a plus.
  • Advanced computer skills, including all Microsoft Office, Power Bi, PowerPoint, Word, and Excel.
  • Must be highly organized and work well under pressure and time constraints.

Responsibilities

  • Data Analysis, Insights & Management Create analysis of all data sources for internal reporting & projects.
  • Develop analysis of third-party sales & market data to drive retailer partnership.
  • Analyze customer & product information to derive key insights to create opportunities for growth & drive business decisions.
  • Ad hoc data analysis & team support on special initiatives.
  • Lead QBR process & analysis reporting.
  • Trade & Promotional Management Ensure execution of promotional activities aligns with pre/post evaluations to optimize return on investment (ROI) & manage trade expenditure.
  • Administrative oversight of deductions for Key Accounts, in conjunction with Channel Manager &/or Sales Director.
  • Prepare trade spend analysis using internal data, syndicated data, & market trends to evaluate ROI for National & Distributor Show Promotions, Key Account Plans, & other marketing activations & spending.
  • Support account specific JBP process, pressure testing financial proposals.
  • Budget Management Support annual budget development process, led by North American Leadership Team, including channel, product line, & key account sales as well as trade spend budget.
  • Support development of annual plans through sales teams & internal departments.
  • Category Development & Management Manage the development of planograms for the retail & vet channels including specific planograms for chain accounts.
  • Provide category analytical support to internal stakeholders using external market research data & internal sales analysis reports.
  • Participate in key account meetings to address specific opportunities, issues, or enhance the positioning of products.
  • Conduct competitor analysis to identify opportunities & threats for the category & develop strategies to position our products against competitors.
  • Pricing & Margin Lead pricing strategy with CEO to deliver financial objectives for price changes & new product launches.
  • Analyze price position versus competition.
  • Analyze margin & profitability by item & category.
  • Make recommendations & provide strategic insights to help deliver business objectives.
