About The Position

We’re looking for a Trade Investigations Analyst to join Exiger’s Government Solutions practice to support U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) in detecting and disrupting illegal transshipment and trade fraud. Reporting to the Government Solutions Team Lead, you will combine investigative curiosity, trade technical expertise, and data analysis to validate origin claims, audit transactions, and produce defensible investigative findings that inform enforcement actions. This is a high-impact role with significant stakeholder visibility and operational travel.

Requirements

  • Extensive experience using ACE (Automated Commercial Environment) for import data analysis.
  • Deep understanding of international trade mechanics, including Harmonized Tariff Schedule (HTS) classification and Rules of Origin.
  • Familiarity with production lines, packaging equipment, and manufacturing workflows across multiple industries.
  • Strong analytical rigor—able to synthesize complex financial and logistical data into concise, defensible investigative reports.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; comfortable presenting findings to senior government stakeholders.
  • High attention to detail with strong investigative instincts and the ability to document chain-of-custody and evidentiary reasoning.
  • Travel: Up to 50% travel for on-site facility assessments and stakeholder briefings.
  • Citizenship & Clearance: Candidates must be U.S. citizens and may be required to undergo background investigation for a security clearance due to the nature of our government work.

Nice To Haves

  • Background as a CBP Import Specialist, Licensed Customs Broker, or Import/Logistics Manager at a global corporation highly preferred.
  • Demonstrated subject matter expertise in trade compliance, supply-chain security, or trade-enforcement investigations.
  • Bachelor’s degree in International Business, Supply Chain Management, Criminal Justice, or a related field preferred. Equivalent experience will be considered.

Responsibilities

  • Investigative Analysis: Collate and cross-reference disparate data sources to determine whether illegal transshipment or trade fraud has occurred.
  • Product Costing Analysis: Conduct detailed component/material costing (by weight and unit) and reconstruct final assembly costs to verify claimed country-of-origin.
  • Transaction Auditing: Use the Automated Commercial Environment (ACE) to process and review import transactions, flagging anomalies and patterns indicative of non-compliance.
  • Document Review: Review and interpret customs and supply-chain documentation (Bills of Lading, Commercial Invoices, Packing Lists, Certificates of Origin) to validate trade claims.
  • Manufacturing Verification: Assess production capacity and packaging processes—including relevant industrial equipment—to determine whether a facility can plausibly produce the imported goods.
  • Collaboration & Methodology: Partner with Exiger’s technology teams and CBP stakeholders to refine investigative methodologies, contribute to tooling requirements, and deliver clear, actionable reports.

Benefits

  • High-performance culture rooted in accountability, collaboration, and a shared commitment to excellence.
  • Discretionary Time Off for all employees, with no maximum limits on time off.
  • Industry-leading health, vision, and dental benefits and competitive compensation.
  • 16 weeks of fully paid parental leave.
  • Flexible, hybrid approach to working from home and in the office where applicable.
  • Focus on wellness and employee health through stipends and dedicated wellness programming.
  • Purposeful career development programs with reimbursement for educational certifications.
