Requirements

  • At least Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Banking, International Trade, or a related field.
  • Strong attention to detail: Ability to carefully review complex documents and identify risk.

  • Minimum 3 years of experience in trade finance within a commodity trading company or the banking sector, preferably handling oil or energy-related transactions.
  • Strong knowledge of international trade finance instruments and practices (LCs, SBLCs, guarantees, discounting, silent coverage etc.).
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite: Excellent knowledge of Excel, Word, and Outlook for reporting, presentations, and communication.

Nice To Haves

  • Multilingual skills (preferred): Knowledge of multiple languages to support communication with international partners and Banking Institutions.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate with banks to optimize trade finance structures, negotiate bilateral facilities and manage Borrowing Base Facilities (BBFs), and maintain strong relationships with financial institutions.
  • Maintain daily ongoing reporting of such facilities per Banking institution & monitor the company’s overall trade finance exposure.
  • Manage the end-to-end process of trade finance instruments including issuance, negotiation, and settlement of Import & Export Letters of Credit (LCs), Standby LCs, and Bank Guarantees (Bid & Performance Bonds, Advance Payment Guarantees).
  • Monitor transaction flows and ensure all trade finance activities comply with internal policies, international regulations (UCP 600, ISBP, ISP98, URDG 758).
  • Handle LC confirmation and discounting, ensuring cost-effective and timely arrangements with banking partners.
  • Structure and coordinate with financing institutions for silent risk coverage and discount arrangements for open account sales.
  • Liaise with counterparties, banks, and internal teams (trading, legal, operations, credit, treasury) to ensure timely and accurate processing of trade documents.
  • Review and provide comments on purchase and sales contracts from a trade finance and risk management perspective, ensuring alignment with trader’s recap, financing and industry requirements.
  • Monitor invoicing and payment cycles related to physical trades, ensuring accuracy, timely execution, and proper reconciliation.
  • Screening overall exposure on open account sales or prepayments not to exceed internal credit limits.
  • Support the treasury team in managing cash flow and funding needs related to trade transactions.
  • On Structured Inventory Products (SIP) transactions, ensure proper documentation is provided to financing institutions (storage agreements, terminal’s due diligence, holding certificate, pledge) and follow up on product release against receivables.
  • Maintain accurate records and prepare reports for management on trade finance exposure and performance.
  • Ensure timely and accurate processing of all trade finance transactions in compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements.
