About The Position

The tractor-trailer truck Driver is responsible for the safe and timely transportation of materials, merchandise, equipment, and personnel between various facilities, including manufacturing plants, freight depots, warehouses, or directly to customer locations. Drivers operate truck tractors with attached trailers and must ensure their vehicles are always maintained in proper working conditions. This role requires the handling and transportation of hazardous materials such as diesel fuel, JP8, and propane gas. Reporting to the Project Manager, performs the assigned duties. Maintain staffing levels specified in schedules. Training, allocates work responsibilities. Maintains performance standards, issues reports and summaries as needed. Meets periodically with the staff to review service status and institute corrective measures for deficiencies. Operate a tractor-trailer truck for the transport of goods, materials, or equipment between designated locations. Load and unload cargo, with or without the assistance of helpers. Perform routine safety checks and minor mechanical repairs as needed to ensure the vehicle is roadworthy. Maintain accurate delivery records, logs, and reports in compliance with applicable regulations. Keep the truck clean and in good operating order, reporting any maintenance or repair needs. Comply with all federal, state, and local transportation laws, as well as company policies and safety procedures.

Requirements

  • Possess a valid Class A Commercial Driver’s license (CDL) with Tanker and hazardous materials endorsements.
  • Hold a current health card registered with the state. (proof of registration required)
  • Be able to obtain and maintain a valid Government Vehicle Operator’s License (GMVOL)
  • Experience operating tractor-trailer trucks safely and efficiently.
  • Ability to perform basic vehicle maintenance and minor mechanical repairs.
  • Strong knowledge of applicable DOT regulations and safety standards.
  • Ability to lift and move cargo/equipment as required.
  • Applicant must receive favorable background and drug screen results and meet eligibility requirements for access to government computer systems and or facilities.
  • Drug screens follow Federal guidelines.

Responsibilities

  • Operate fuel transport trucks with: Five-speed transmission (one gear range), Two driving wheels, Air brakes, Auxiliary fuel pump and control valve system
  • Transfer fuel from underground storage tanks to the transport truck and from the transport truck to the storage tanks, vehicles, generators, and other equipment as required.
  • Maintain staffing levels specified in schedules.
