As a Systems Engineer for the SDA GMI program, you will be a key member of a cross-functional team responsible for developing and deploying state-of-the-art ground operational systems. Your contributions will be vital to the success and innovation of the program.

  • Requires a Bachelor’s degree in Systems Engineering, or a related Science, Engineering, Technology or Mathematics field.
  • Also requires 5+ years of job-related experience, or a Master's degree plus 3 years of job-related experience.
  • Agile experience preferred.
  • Department of Defense Top Secret security clearance is preferred at time of hire.
  • Applicants selected will be subject to a U.S. Government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information.
  • Due to the nature of work performed within our facilities, U.S. citizenship is required.
  • Strong understanding of systems engineering principles and methodologies
  • Experience with systems design, integration, and validation
  • Proficiency in requirements analysis and system architecture design
  • Ability to work effectively with multidisciplinary teams
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Proficient in documenting system designs, configurations, and procedures
  • Ground system design or scheduling knowledge
  • Tracking mission design knowledge
  • Satellite communications knowledge
  • Ground to satellite communication knowledge
  • Experience with system/software design for cloud-based microservice architecture
  • Knowledge of networking concepts and protocols (e.g., TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP)
  • Familiarity with operating systems (e.g., Linux, Windows)
  • Experience with virtualization technologies (e.g., VMware, Hyper-V)
  • Understanding of DevOps principles and practices
  • Experience with automation tools (e.g., Ansible, Puppet, Chef)
  • Experience with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP)
  • Knowledge of infrastructure as code (e.g., Terraform, CloudFormation)
  • Understanding of cybersecurity principles and best practices
  • Familiarity with compliance standards (e.g., NIST, ISO 27001)
  • Proficiency in systems engineering, decomposing requirements into architecture, internal and external interfaces, and design behavior
  • Experience with ground pre-planned or ad-hoc scheduling and situational awareness of satellites and payloads
  • Experience with tracking IR payload or ground mission data transport, handling, and analysis
  • Experience decomposing high-level space-ground systems design into ground software/systems design
  • Experience with MBSE methodologies and tools such as CAMEO or MagicDraw
  • Familiarity with programming languages such as Java, Python, and MATLAB, including for software developer coordination, system analysis, prototype algorithm development, or modeling
  • Knowledge of cloud technologies and their application in system design and deployment
  • Background in simulation and modeling analysis with tools like STK, particularly in aerospace applications a plus
