This position serves as a hybrid leadership role, combining hands-on track maintenance expertise with front-line operational leadership. The Track Maintenance Supervisor /Assistant Site Leader reports directly to the Site Leader and plays a critical role in ensuring safe, efficient track maintenance operations while supporting daily site leadership responsibilities. Salary: $80,000.00 to $85,000.00 depending on experience What You’ll Be Doing Track & Mechanical Leadership Provide hands-on direction for railroad track construction, maintenance, inspection, and repair projects Plan work scope, determine materials, equipment, and staffing requirements Ensure work is completed in compliance with FRA rules, company procedures, and safety standards Operate and train others to operate heavy equipment, including backhoes and front-end loaders Identify track defects and ensure corrective actions are taken Monitor productivity, quality, and cost control for track projects Operational & People Leadership Maintain a safe working environment by ensuring all employees follow safety rules and EH&S policies Train employees on procedures, operations, and safe work practices Assist the Site Leader with daily operations to ensure contractual and customer requirements are met Help develop work schedules that balance experience levels and operational needs Support employee engagement, accountability, and morale Assist with administrative duties including timekeeping, reports, and documentation Be available to support operations and cover shifts as needed Supervisory Responsibilities Assist the Site Leader with supervising site employees Support interviewing, hiring, training, performance feedback, and corrective action as needed Lead by example in safety, professionalism, and work quality Education & Experience High School Diploma or equivalent Track maintenance, construction, or inspection experience required, with demonstrated hands-on mechanical aptitude Prior leadership or crew oversight experience preferred Rail operations experience strongly preferred Military experience helpful Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Strong working knowledge of track structure, construction, maintenance, and defect identification Ability to safely operate and train others on heavy equipment Strong leadership presence with the ability to direct crews and support site leadership Excellent communication skills (verbal and written) Ability to prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced, safety-critical environment Proficient with basic Microsoft Office tools (Word, Excel) Physical Demands Frequent walking, standing, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and crawling Regular use of hands and arms to operate tools and equipment Ability to lift and move heavy materials as required Must meet vision requirements including depth perception and color vision Work Environment Outdoor work in all weather conditions Exposure to moving mechanical parts, equipment, and rail operations Moderate to high noise levels Safety-sensitive role requiring strict adherence to safety procedures #LI-DNI Following receipt of a conditional offer of employment, candidates will be required to complete additional job-related screening processes as permitted or required by applicable law . Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Track maintenance, construction, or inspection experience required, with demonstrated hands-on mechanical aptitude
  • Strong working knowledge of track structure, construction, maintenance, and defect identification
  • Ability to safely operate and train others on heavy equipment
  • Strong leadership presence with the ability to direct crews and support site leadership
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal and written)
  • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced, safety-critical environment
  • Proficient with basic Microsoft Office tools (Word, Excel)
  • Frequent walking, standing, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and crawling
  • Regular use of hands and arms to operate tools and equipment
  • Ability to lift and move heavy materials as required
  • Must meet vision requirements including depth perception and color vision
  • Outdoor work in all weather conditions
  • Exposure to moving mechanical parts, equipment, and rail operations
  • Moderate to high noise levels
  • Safety-sensitive role requiring strict adherence to safety procedures

Nice To Haves

  • Prior leadership or crew oversight experience preferred
