About The Position

Sets up and operates both automatic and manual assembly lines, assembles parts to specifications by performing the following duties. Satisfy SA’s Quality goals and objectives in completion of activities or duties (reference Somic America Quality Manual and Quality Policy). ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Safety Maintain and provide a safe work area and work in a safe manner. Report any unsafe conditions to Team Leader immediately. Quality Complete Hourly checks using In Process Check Sheets and Gaging to ensure parts meet Quality Specifications Notifies Team Leader of any suspect material and helps to contain material line side. Changeovers Complete changeovers using Changeover Procedure. Attach fixtures and jigs to the table positions according to changeover procedure. Change out Station changeover pieces according to changeover procedure. Fill in Changeover checklist to ensure all changeover steps are complete. Operation Completes standardized work in accordance to Work Instructions. Removes material from boxes and places in fixture or on conveyor. Moves parts from machine to machine as process is completed, i.e. Bolt Press to Pre-Assembly to Final Assembly. Observes and listens to machine operation to detect malfunctions, such as worn rolling heads. Measures and inspects parts for conformance to specifications, using in process sheets, visual checks and gaging. Notify Team Leader of any abnormal or unusual condition. Complete line PM’s (planned maintenance) as assigned. Submit kaizen suggestions for improvements.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or general education degree (GED).
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedures.
  • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to other employees of the organization.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Have the ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs and Statistical Process Control (SPC) charts.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Regularly required to stand eight (8) or more hours a day; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear.
  • Occasionally required to climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
  • Regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Close vision, requires 20/40 near vision, can be with correction
  • Distance vision, requires 20/40 far vision, can be with correction
  • Color vision, requires red/green, blue/violet and silver/gold discrimination
  • Depth perception, accurate depth perception required
  • Peripheral vision; minimum 160 degrees
  • Able to adjust focus.
