TR LEADER (Per Diem)

About The Position
The ideal candidate will be able to plan, organize and implement a variety of therapeutic programs for our memory challenged residents on our Special Care Unit. Must have experience working with an elderly population. Requires a compassionate, energetic leader who is able to work as part of our interdisciplinary team that provides our residents with a well-rounded calendar of therapeutic activities. Bachelor’s degree helpful. Music and art skills are beneficial. Must be able to work weekends and holidays.
Requirements
- Knowledge of Therapeutic Recreation theory and practices.
- 1 year experience working with memory challenged individuals.
- Excellent people skills and the ability to work as part of a team.
- Must have a current valid CDL drivers license.
Nice To Haves
- Bachelor’s degree helpful.
- Music and art skills are beneficial.
- CTRS, BCMT, NCCDP, NCCAP or other creative arts certification is a plus.
Responsibilities
- Responsible for implementation of TR programs for our Special Care Unit.
- Responsible for providing our residents with a safe and nurturing environment where they can reach their highest participation levels in our TR programs and 1:1 interactions.
- Responsible for engaging, encouraging and directing volunteers assigned to TR.
- Effectively communicates with other departments to ensure that the residents’ needs are being met.
- Maintains cleanliness and safety of the programming areas.
- Responsible for recording resident attendance and participation levels.
- Supports, promotes and projects guest relations and positive images to all visitors, residents and other Waveny LifeCare Network personnel.
