About The Position

Work Schedule: M-F; 1500-2330, with rotating weekends and holidays Performs laboratory procedures to obtain results using established protocols that require the broad exercise of independent judgment and responsibility with minimal technical supervision. Works independently and communicates effectively with other healthcare professionals. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Accurately performs any high complexity, moderate complexity, or waived laboratory testing, which may require the broad exercise of independent judgment to include the use of advanced clinical laboratory instrumentation and equipment according to departmental Standard Operating Procedures. Handles Forensic Toxicology specimens and data according to forensic testing guidelines. Recognizes and corrects instrument malfunctions within the scope of the operators’ manual and records troubleshooting activities. Confirms, verifies, and reports test results independently. Monitors results for reasonableness and critical values. Correlates and interprets data generated from testing. Assists clinicians and clients in the interpretation of test results within the scope of the profession. Conducts established quality control and performance improvement activities. Provides clinical orientation and/or training of new employees/students. Prepares and/or collects specimens (blood, urine, or other body fluids) for analysis. Participates in Continuous System Improvement (CSI) and continuing education programs. Performs instrument and assay validations. Requirements

Bachelor’s degree required in Chemical or Biological sciences, Medical Technology, or related science field from an accredited institution.
Must meet CLIA 88 personnel requirements for high complexity testing.
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents.
Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community.
Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference.
Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
Word processing, Spreadsheets, E-mail, Laboratory Information Systems.
