About The Position

Perform duties of a study pathologist or peer reviewer on preclinical toxicology studies. Diagnose presence and stage of disease/toxicity using laboratory techniques and patient specimens. Study the nature, cause, and development disease/toxicity. This position is an on-site role at the Everett WA site.

Requirements

  • D.V.M. (or Equivalent as listed by AVMA ECFVG®), MS and/or Ph. D.
  • At least 1 to 5 years of toxicologic pathology experience in a GLP environment.
  • Diplomat of A.C.V.P. or J.C.V.P. or E.C.V.P. or R.C.P. required.
  • The computer skills required include but are not limited to: the ability to utilize Microsoft Office and pathology data management systems.
  • Ability to respond to common inquiries or feedback from customers or regulatory agencies; and, ability to effectively present information to clients, management, and public groups.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with evaluation of special stains and IHC and/or specialty pathology expertise (ie, CNS, dermal, ocular, or reproductive pathology and/or carcinogenicity studies) is highly desirable.
  • demonstrates expertise in anatomic and or clinical pathology
  • demonstrates knowledge of current scientific and industry specific literature.

Responsibilities

  • Perform duties of a study pathologist and/or peer reviewer on preclinical toxicology studies
  • Perform macroscopic and microscopic tissue evaluations and interpretation of assigned studies.
  • Assist with necropsy supervision and gross pathology interpretation.
  • Guiding of personal staff for sample collection and technical development.
  • Write comprehensive report narratives detailing all test article effects.
  • Enter pathology findings in data capturing system.
  • As needed, work with study directors to ensure data is accurately integrated into study reports.
  • Provide training, technical guidance, and leadership to laboratory staff.
  • Maintain an up-to-date knowledge in toxicologic pathology.
  • May serve as principal investigator for contract pathology work, participate in pathology working group (PWG) as an observer and serve as a consultant in pathology-related issues
  • May provide scientific expertise for experimental design and other aspects of research studies, as needed.
  • Act as pathology representative for important sponsors.
  • Provide mentorship (study scientific reviews) on assigned studies to less experienced pathologists.
  • Support establishment and or refinement of significant operational or scientific improvements within pathology.
  • Ability to build strong bonds with technicians to foster open, honest, and candid communications
  • Ability to multi-task and stay organized in a fast paced, changing environment.
  • Provide training, technical guidance and leadership to laboratory staff, pathology trainees, and less experienced pathologist.
  • Engages in research to develop techniques for diagnosing and identifying pathological conditions.
  • Confers with scientists regarding research and reviews technical papers and reports.
  • Act as a study pathologist or peer reviewer on preclinical toxicology studies.
