About The Position

Reporting to the Director and working alongside the Tourism Manager, the tourism coordinator plans and implements tourism initiatives, manages marketing efforts, and serves as a liaison between local businesses and visitors. Key responsibilities include developing promotional materials, coordinating group tours, managing social media and website content, and tracking performance metrics. This position also builds partnerships with local stakeholders and provides visitor services.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required, and three (3) years of experience in marketing, tourism, hospitality or a related field.
  • Must have a valid AZ driver's license within thirty (30) days of employment.
  • A valid passport is required to attend occasional international events.
  • Must be able to work occasional non-traditional working hours and weekends.
  • Principles and practices of tourism destination marketing and management.
  • Principles and practices of municipal organization and public administration.
  • Research techniques, methods and procedures.
  • City ordinances and regulations.
  • Microsoft Office products and other relevant technologies such as Customer Relationship Management (CRM) database management, social media and marketing tools and databases.
  • Utilizing critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with community partners, identify prospects, develop leads, conduct site visits, and facilitate connections.
  • Perform cost/benefit analysis.
  • Coordinate and mediate efforts of both public and private agencies and committees involved in the economic development projects.
  • Interpret City ordinances, rules and regulations and make decisions in accordance with established policy.
  • Prepare and present accurate and reliable reports containing findings and recommendations.
  • Demonstrate integrity, ingenuity and inventiveness in the performance of assigned tasks.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong organizational and planning abilities.
  • Proficiency with computers, social media, and marketing software.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's Degree Business, Public Administration, Economic Development, Marketing, Recreation, or other closely related field preferred or a ny equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the knowledge and abilities necessary to perform the work.

Responsibilities

  • Marketing and promotion: Working with the Tourism Manager, creates and manages marketing campaigns, brochures, social media content, and websites to promote attractions and events.
  • Partnership development: Collaborate with local businesses, organizations, and government agencies such as Arizona Office of Tourism, Prescott Chamber Visitor Center, and Prescott Downtown Partnership to enhance the visitor experience and increase tourism.
  • Website Content Management: Maintain website business listings and content. Work directly with stakeholders, including businesses and event promoters, to make sure listings are up to date.
  • Tour coordination: Plan and organize group tours such as Familiarization (Fam tours) by communicating with vendors, preparing itineraries, and handling logistical details like booking, invoicing, and day-of support.
  • Visitor services: Work with Chamber Visitor Center to provide materials for front-line customer support and manage promotional material fulfillment.
  • Event support: Working with Tourism Manager, assisting with the planning and implementation of tourism-related events and activities.
  • Administrative tasks: Handle accounts payable, paying invoices, track budget expenditures. Manage all event sponsorship contracts including Tourism Grants and other sponsorships. Work with Manager and Director to generate Agendas for Tourism Advisory Committee and generate approved minutes for TAC meetings.
  • Other Duties as Assigned.
