About The Position

Glatfelter Insurance Group is seeking a Total Loss/Auto Physical Damage Supervisor who will play a critical role in overseeing the evaluation and management of total loss claims and physical damage within 1st Party. This position ensures that claims are processed accurately, efficiently, and in compliance with company policies and regulatory standards. The supervisor leads a team of adjusters and specialists, providing guidance, training, and performance management to maintain high-quality service delivery. They collaborate closely with internal departments, external vendors, and customers to resolve complex claims and optimize operational workflows. Ultimately, this role drives the reduction of claim cycle times and supports the company’s commitment to fair and timely claim resolutions. This position is required to be onsite at our Leader Heights, York, PA office.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Insurance, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in claims handling
  • Proficiency with claims management software
  • The required skills enable the supervisor to effectively lead and develop their team, ensuring claims are handled with precision and compliance. Strong analytical abilities are used daily to review complex total loss cases and physical damage assessments, ensuring fair and accurate settlements. Communication skills are essential for coordinating between internal teams, external vendors, and customers, facilitating smooth claim resolutions. Leadership and mentoring skills help in fostering a motivated and knowledgeable team capable of meeting performance goals.
  • Must have or obtain thorough knowledge of Glatfelter Claims Management and GIG products, services and procedures within an accelerated period of time.

Nice To Haves

  • Industry certifications such as AIC (Associate in Claims) or CPCU (Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter).
  • Experience working with salvage and vehicle valuation systems.
  • Familiarity with data analytics tools to assess team performance and claim trends.
  • Background in customer service or dispute resolution within the insurance sector.
  • Proven supervisory or team leadership experience within an insurance claims environment.
  • Strong knowledge of auto insurance policies, claim processes, and relevant state regulations.
  • Preferred skills such as data analytics and negotiation enhance the supervisor’s ability to identify operational improvements and resolve disputes efficiently, contributing to overall organizational success.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise and mentor a team of total loss and physical damage adjusters, ensuring adherence to company standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Review and approve total loss determinations and physical damage estimates to guarantee accuracy and consistency.
  • Coordinate with claims, legal, and salvage departments to facilitate efficient claim settlements and vehicle dispositions.
  • Monitor team performance metrics and implement process improvements to enhance productivity and customer satisfaction.
  • Provide training and development opportunities to staff to keep them updated on industry best practices and regulatory changes.
