The Torque Specialist is responsible for monitoring and auditing all torque applications and tools on the production line. This role involves utilizing statistical software for data analysis, integrating tools into network systems, reviewing torque results, and escalating any trends or out-of-spec conditions. Key duties include supporting production lines with tool-related issues, conducting daily torque audits, maintaining tooling, programming torque tools, and collaborating with the Mechanical Engineering group for fixture revisions. The specialist must adhere to safety and ergonomics, assist production with various tasks, manage torque equipment inventory, support rework, train operators, communicate with tool suppliers, and recommend process improvements. Requirements

  • Minimum of 1 year experience as a Torque Specialist or equivalent external experience with DC torque tools required
  • High school diploma or GED equivalency required
  • 3 years manufacturing experience required
  • Have knowledge of powersports products
  • Candidate must have strong knowledge of computers and the ability to troubleshoot processes, products, and tool issues
  • Able to be flexible to meet production, quality, and engineering needs
  • Understanding of torque concepts, torque monitoring equipment, pneumatic, and electric tools
  • Ability to interpret assembly prints with an understanding of GD&T
  • Must have working knowledge of Microsoft office (Edge, Word, PowerPoint, Excel, etc…)
  • Must be able to manage conflict and solve problems independently
  • Good organizational, problem-solving, leadership, and communication skills
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision, possess strong problem-solving skills, and make sound decisions
  • Candidate must possess strong people skills and must be able to work with others to solve issues
  • Ability to multitask

Responsibilities

  • Use statistical software for data analysis of torque tool rundowns, audits, and certifications
  • Demonstrate ability to use historical rundown data to improve torque programs
  • Work with IS and controls engineering to integrate tools into network systems
  • Review torque results and escalate trends or out of spec conditions
  • Responsible for supporting production lines on all tool related issues
  • Conduct daily torque audits that comply with static/dynamic audit procedures
  • Maintain proper labeling for all production tooling
  • Conduct timely tooling changeovers without causing downtime
  • Programming torque tools.
  • Collaborate with ME group for fixture revisions
  • Adhere to safety and ergonomics when establishing, setting, adjusting, and replacing tools
  • Assist production with other duties such as RMO support, sorting, inspection, and troubleshooting
  • Maintain inventory within database for all torque equipment within assigned area
  • Support rework by setting up and providing tools
  • Assist group lead with training operators on how to use the provided tools
  • Communicate with multiple tool suppliers
  • Make recommendations for process, program, and tool improvements
  • Work overtime as required and mandated by production schedules
  • Maintain regular, reliable attendance
  • Participate in continuous improvement process
  • Perform duties assigned by Supervisor
  • Follow all safety rules and regulations strictly and maintain a clean and orderly work area
