Pratt & Whitney has an immediate opportunity within the Military Engines (ME) Accounting & Internal Controls team for an Accounting Specialist. This will be a hybrid job opportunity based out of our East Hartford, Connecticut campus location. What You Will Do: An opportunity exists within the Pratt & Whitney's Military Engines (ME) Accounting & Internal Controls team for an Accounting Specialist to support the accounting associated with various programs, including F135 Development, F117, etc. The Specialist will be responsible for providing an array of financial/accounting services in support of contractual deliverables like monthly closing responsibilities not limited to: journal entries to record sales, COS, advances and account reconciliations. Other duties would include program support analysis, financial and variance analysis, contract compliance, and various special projects.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, business administration, or related field required with at least 5+ years of experience in Accounting with 3+ years working in a manufacturing environment; OR an Master's degree with 3+ years of experience in Accounting with 3+ years working in a manufacturing environment
  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are authorized to access information under this program/contract.
  • Demonstrated Knowledge and application of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles and internal control procedures.
  • Strong understanding of SAP Financial System.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to present recommendations effectively to Management in both written form and orally.
  • Strong PC skills including Microsoft Excel, ERP Applications, SAP, OneStream.
  • Strong attention to detail and deliver a quality work product on time.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in and coordinate the month end closing process for ME Cost-type programs.
  • Preparation of monthly SAP/OneStream journal entries and account reconciliations.
  • Lead the annual cancelling funds billing initiative.
  • Provide accounting support to Program Finance organization.
  • Support contract closeout process.
  • Support project request form (PRF) process and SAP setup.
  • Partner with cross-functional teams to resolve accounting issues, improve processes, and ensure alignment with financial and operational objectives.
  • Ensure accuracy of financial reporting including supplementals.
  • Perform required Sarbanes-Oxley testing, support ACA, and Internal and External audit requests.
  • Maintenance of accounting standard work documentation.
  • Assist in the research and closure of G&A accounting issues.
  • Assist in providing process improvement, automation and the outlining and testing of DT system enhancements.
