About The Position

The Toolmaker/Machinist is responsible for the fabrication, repair, and preventive maintenance of stamping dies, tooling components, weld fixtures, and gage fixtures. This position requires strong technical expertise in machining and toolmaking processes, including the ability to perform die changeovers, troubleshoot tooling issues, and support production needs. The role requires proficiency in programming and operating CNC mills, as well as selecting and applying appropriate tool steels and materials based on application requirements.

  • Completion of a formal apprenticeship training program with certification of completion.
  • A minimum of seven (7) years of experience in a metal stamping environment as a Tool & Die Maker, Toolmaker, or similar role.
  • Extensive experience working with stamping dies and related tooling.

Responsibilities

  • Build, repair, and maintain stamping dies, fixtures, and tooling in support of production schedules.
  • Perform routine and complex die maintenance during changeovers to ensure proper function and part quality.
  • Program, set up, and operate CNC mills, as well as manual machining equipment (lathes, grinders, mills, etc.).
  • Troubleshoot die and tooling issues using strong mechanical and analytical skills.
  • Select appropriate materials and tool steels for tooling applications based on performance and durability requirements.
  • Perform precision fitting, assembly, and verification of tooling components.
  • Read and interpret engineering prints and specifications accurately.
  • Collaborate with engineering and production teams to optimize tooling performance and improve manufacturability.
  • Maintain accurate records of tooling repairs, modifications, and maintenance.
  • Adhere to company safety standards, quality procedures, and operational guidelines.
