Pratt & Whitney is seeking a highly skilled machinist to support unique, one-off manufacturing operations for aerospace material and component development programs. Ideal candidate is an apprentice graduate with experience in tool making.

Requirements

  • HS Diploma or AA/AS degree (or other 2-year post high school training) with a minimum of 4 years of relevant experience
  • Broad experience with both automated CNC and manual manufacturing operations (lathe, mill, grinder, band saw, etc.).
  • Must be able to multitask and parallel process on operate multiple automated machines.
  • Ability to lead small teams to deliver outstanding results and overcome challenges.
  • Must have experience working on collaborative, multi-functional problem-solving engineering teams including Design, Structures, Materials Development, Quality and Operations.

Nice To Haves

  • NX or equivalent experience with CAD modeling.
  • Graduation from a formal apprenticeship program in tool, die and gage making.

Responsibilities

  • Set up and operation of automated and manual milling, lathe turning, wire EDM, water jet and other basic machining equipment.
  • Interpret and use blueprints and sketches to manufacture a wide variety of non-production experimental test specimens and tooling.
  • Meet with customers to understand machining objectives and develop machining operation strategies.
  • Trouble shoot, diagnose and support basic equipment maintenance.
  • Knowledge, leadership and effective practice of Environmental, Health and Safety requirements.
  • Train new operators in safe and effective use of shop equipment.
