About The Position

As an entry‑level Toolmaker, you will support the design, construction, repair, and maintenance of injection molds, as well as the creation of tools, fixtures, and other devices that enable Manufacturing and Product Development. Working alongside experienced team members, you will gain hands‑on knowledge of mold making, machining processes, and toolroom operations while contributing to high-quality tooling solutions. In this role, you will work closely with senior toolmakers and engineers to develop practical toolmaking skills that support both departmental and organizational goals. You will collaborate with a team responsible for designing, fabricating, and assembling jigs, fixtures, presses, and injection molds. You must be able to follow written and verbal instructions, apply sound judgment to avoid risks, and demonstrate craftsmanship and pride in all work performed on behalf of the Toolroom.

Requirements

  • A 2‑year AAS degree or technical certificate in Mold Making OR completion of a certified apprenticeship program in Machine Tool Technology with emphasis in Mold Making.
  • Familiarity and safe operation of foundational toolroom equipment, including: Vertical Machining Centers (VMCs) Ram and Wire EDM machines Other CNC equipment
  • Understanding of machining processes and the ability to program and operate CNC machinery.
  • Basic PC skills and introductory experience using CAM software.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience across multiple CNC platforms and advanced CNC programming techniques.
  • Exposure to modern mold‑making technologies, tooling strategies, and best practices.
  • Proficiency with multiple CAM software packages.
  • Experience troubleshooting and optimizing machining processes for precision and efficiency.

Responsibilities

  • Apply critical thinking to select processes that maximize productivity, quality, and cost efficiency.
  • Assist in the construction, repair, and maintenance of injection molds, mold components, tools, and fixtures under the guidance of experienced team members or independently as skills develop.
  • Work confidently and consistently within tolerances of ±0.001 inches.
  • Begin developing foundational programming skills using CAM software.
  • Maintain high standards of cleanliness, organization, and machine care, ensuring equipment and the department are kept in optimal condition.
  • Participate in gathering and recording data related to assigned jobs or skill development activities.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of all Toolroom activities, following established procedures and using electronic tools for tracking and reporting.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
