About The Position

This position involves setting up molds, machines, and processes for product changeovers and startups. The goal is to deliver a stable manufacturing process at the beginning of production runs and to provide troubleshooting support to identify root causes throughout production when necessary. Responsibilities include adhering to all relevant safety, quality, and production standards. The role also involves overseeing mold and version changes efficiently and safely while ensuring compliance with all applicable safety and quality regulations.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent is required; a two-year technical or associate's degree is preferred.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in the injection molding field or a related industry.
  • Process/Set Up Technician skills are required.
  • Strong understanding of OSHA Safety Standards.
  • Previous supervisory experience is required.
  • Ability to thrive in a high-volume, team-oriented environment is essential.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with large tonnage machines is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Delivering complete and accurate mold and version changes, managing all activities from the last good part of the previous product to the first good part of the next.
  • Providing work leadership to support this objective for 1 to 4 coworkers as needed.
  • Supporting production startups, shutdowns, and changeovers to meet production and business-related goals.
  • Maintaining product quality by checking for flaws, blemishes, discoloration, burn marks, and warping. Notifying the manager of any suspected quality issues and coordinating with support teams to resolve them.
  • Leading the cleanup of manufacturing areas prior to mold and version change activities.
  • Maintaining a safe workplace and ensuring compliance with safety policies.
  • Starting up and troubleshooting machines, molds, materials, and auxiliary equipment to ensure they operate within specified parameters.
  • Ensuring that the necessary tools and equipment for mold changes are set up and available beforehand.
  • Inspecting equipment associated with the mold, such as water lines and clamps, and replacing components as necessary.
  • Assisting the Process Technician in setting up, documenting, and training on newly launched molds and processes.
  • Informing the manager when inventory levels of critical replacement parts are low.
  • Supporting root cause analysis for process changes that occur during production runs.
  • Collecting data and performing trend analysis to support maintenance and tooling objectives, including predictive and preventive maintenance.
