About The Position

Airbus Aerosystems Kinston is looking for a Tooling Maintenance Technician to join our Tooling department based in Kinston, NC. On the shop floor you’ll be surrounded by individuals who are passionate about aviation and skilled in areas like electrical, structure and quality. Your Working Environment: The Airbus Aerosystems Kinston facility sits at the forefront of aerospace manufacturing, specializing in the production of large, advanced composite aerostructures. Our team builds critical components for the state-of-the-art Airbus A350 XWB, including the composite center fuselage and wing spar.

Requirements

  • Must be willing and able to work any shift
  • Workkeys Assessment completion OR High School Diploma/GED
  • Vision: Daily able to see and read computer screens and other electronic equipment with screens, able to read documents, reports and engineering drawings.
  • Hearing: Daily able to participate in conversations in person and via teleconference or phone and to hear sounds on the production floor including safety warnings or alarms.
  • Speaking: Daily able to speak in conversations and meetings, deliver information and participate in communications.
  • Equipment Operation (personal computer, telephone, copies, fax machine, and related office equipment and using electronic identification card to enter building floors and internal doors):Rarely able to operate most office and personal electronic equipment and some tools including production tools such as hydraulic lifts.
  • Carrying: Weekly able to carry documents, tools, drawings, electronic equipment up to 30lbs/14kgs.
  • Lifting: Weekly able to lift documents, tools, drawings, electronic equipment up to 30lbs/14kgs.
  • Pushing / Pulling: Several times a month able to push and pull small office furniture and some equipment and tools.
  • Sitting: Daily able to sit for long periods of time in meetings, working on the computer.
  • Squatting / Kneeling: Daily able to squat or kneel to retrieve or replace items stored on low shelving.
  • Standing: Daily able to stand for discussions in offices or on the production floor.
  • Travel: Once or twice a year able to travel independently and at short notice.
  • Walking (include routine walking such as to a shared printer to retrieve documents): Daily able to walk through office and production areas including uneven surfaces.
  • Personal Protective Equipment required: Required PPE includes, but is not limited to, Safety Shoes, Safety Glasses, Hearing Protection, Respirators/Masks, and/or Protective Gloves as required by site and/or customer site
  • Administrative position only PPE required: Steel-toed shoes are required for all shop floor visits, appropriate hearing/eye protection may also be required when visiting the shop floor.

Responsibilities

  • Dismantles, moves, assembles, installs, and repairs industrial machinery and equipment according to layout plans, blueprints, drawings, or verbal instructions.
  • Dismantles equipment and machines using hammers, wrenches, crowbars, and other hand tools.
  • Moves machinery and equipment using hoists, dollies, rollers, and trucks.
  • Assembles and installs equipment such as conveyors and tram rails using hand and power tools.
  • Constructs foundations; aligns machines; performs scheduled inspection and maintenance.
  • Sets up and operates machine tools and fabrication machinery to rework or make new parts.
  • Perform root/cause analysis in support of reliability processes, and collaborate with vendors, engineering, team leader, customer, other crafts and management to solve equipment problems and develop corrective action.
  • Rework and maintain tools of all types and materials.
  • Perform routine minor machine maintenance as part of their daily work duties (e.g., replacing machine filters, changing standard light bulbs on machines and equipment, maintaining lubrication/coolant levels, etc. as related to basic Total Preventative Maintenance duties).
  • Repairing and building of lay-up tools.
