About The Position

Initiate, support and lead continuous improvement activities within the department. Schedule, lead and communicate departmental priorities with the team and coordinate activities with other functions within the plant. Lead the training and development of the tool room teammates and conduct performance evaluations which include having concise development plans for the teammates. Coordinate the allocation of manpower requirements across the shifts based on production requirements, equipment capabilities, utilization and plant needs. Review all internal engineering process changes/method changes. Monitor and coordinate tooling and materials inventory for machining. Participate in the review and approval of improvements in capital equipment and manufacturing methods. Attend all required meetings and present out as needed. Maintain all attendance and complete payroll for all tool room teammates. Oversee, grow, and maintain external tooling suppliers for production needs.

Requirements

  • Minimum of High School Diploma and/or GED from an accredited institution
  • Minimum of four (4) years experience in managing people
  • Minimum of four (4) years experience in machining and/or tool and die shop
  • Candidates must reside within a 50 mile radius of the South Bend, IN facility. Active Duty Military is exempt from this geographical limitation.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institution
  • Five (5+) years experience managing people
  • CAD/CAM experience
  • Knowledge of forging and/or injection molding process
  • Knowledge of lean manufacturing techniques
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications
  • Demonstrated strong leadership skills
  • Demonstrated problem solving and troubleshooting skills
