About The Position

To build new molds, dies, fixtures and prototypes as requested by TriMark engineering. To oversee or perform the repair, modification, and maintenance of molds, dies, fixtures and to facilitate quality production and minimize machine downtime. Responsible for facilitating the fabrication of new project prototypes and tooling. Responsible for facilitating maintenance on production tooling.

Responsibilities

  • Review tool drawings and confer with manufacturing engineering and/or Engineering about final design of each new tool and prototype to be constructed.
  • Studies specifications, such as blueprints, sketches, prototype parts, CAD models or verbal descriptions, then visualizes product to determine material requirements and machines to be used to fabricate tooling.
  • Analyzes specifications, lays out metal stock, sets up and operates machine tools, and fits and assembles parts to fabricate short run, compound and progressive metal working dies, prototype parts, die cast injection molds, plastic injection molds, cutting tools, jigs and fixtures, gauges, and machinist’s hand tools.
  • Applies knowledge of tool and die design and construction, shop mathematics, metal properties, layout, machining, and assembly procedures.
  • Computes dimensions, plans layout, determines assembly method, envisions and plans sequence of machine centers and machine center operations to be implemented during tool fabrication or repair.
  • Import and/or create CAD models and programs NC (numerically controlled) machines with manual G-code programming and/or CAM (computer aided machining) software.
  • Set up and operate machine tools, such as steel saws, manual mills, manual lathe, surface grinders, CNC Lathe, CNC mill, CNC RAM EDM, and CNC Wire EDM.
  • Proficient in MS Word, MS Excel, MS Outlook, TriMark Tooling Database, TriMark Tooling Request Database, TriMark Changeover Database, TriMark Tooling Bill of Materials Database, JobBoss Software, Windchill CAD Database, ProE/Creo, Creo View, Fastlook, MasterCam Mill, MasterCam Mill 3D, MasterCam Wire and JD Edwards Software,
  • Employs an extensive variety of hand tools and precision measuring instruments, such as hammers, wrenches, impact wrenches, hand grinders, calipers, micrometers, gauge blocks, gauge pins, height gauge, hardness tester and microscope.
  • Completes repair and adjustment of Die Casting and Stamping tooling in active production environments as required to reduce production down time.
  • Performs heat treatment to a variety of alloy and powdered metal tool steels.
  • Performs heli-arc (TIG) welding, wire (MIG) welding, and conventional welding on a variety of metals.
  • Assembles tooling sub-components and inspects his/her final product to ensure all specifications are met and verify that tooling will mass-produce capable parts.
  • Maintains tools and machines in good working condition at all times.
  • Recommend changes in tooling and machinery, which will result in cost reduction, delivery time reduction and/or improved quality of production.
  • Accountable for accurate time and job record keeping through the use of Jobboss software.
  • Maintains work area in a cleared and orderly condition to minimize safety hazards and lost-time accidents and follows established safety procedures and policies at all times.
  • Maintains technical expertise to ensure all tooling is cost effective and produces quality products.
  • Responsible for supporting and participating in continual improvement efforts in his/her area of accountability, as well as performing duties and tasks as defined by department and quality procedures as established by TriMark Corporation.
  • This position supports the continual improvement and compliance of QMS and EMS.
