About The Position

As a Tool & Die Maker Apprentice, you will undergo a comprehensive training program designed to equip you with the skills and knowledge required to create, repair, and maintain precision tools, dies, and molds used in the manufacturing industry. You will work under the guidance of experienced Tool & Die Makers, learning to perform a variety of tasks that support the production of parts and components for machinery, automotive, and other industries.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Completed College diploma in General Machining, Tool & Die or Mold Maker or equivalent Tool & Die Maker experience
  • Basic shop machinery skills
  • A natural interest in working with tools, machines, and mechanical system is key
  • The role involves handling heavy materials and operating precision machinery
  • Apprenticeship are designed to teach trade, so an eagerness to learn on the job is essential

Responsibilities

  • Attain certification as a Tool and Die Maker through formal schooling and practical assignments
  • Assist in design, construction, and maintenance of tools, dies, jigs and fixtures used in manufacturing process
  • Suggest product improvements and identify potential build issues
  • Operate and learn to use various machines, such as lathes, mills, and grinders, to fabricate and modify parts to exact specifications
  • Learn to read and interpret technical drawings and blueprints to understand tool and die specifications and requirements
  • Assist in assembling, testing, and installing tools, dies, and related equipment for production processes
  • Participate in inspecting finished products and tooling to ensure they meet quality standards and comply with safety regulations.
  • Ensure that the customer’s requirements, which include project timing part quality and delivery are understood and met
  • Be responsible for all parameters of assigned tasks
  • Ensure the shop environment is kept safe, clean and organized to enable timely and safe manufacturing techniques
  • Communicate project and other details to the supervisor and tool & die maker
  • Ensure adequate communication with other program team members
  • Maintain accurate timesheets and ensure they are completed on time
  • Follow all documented quality procedures
  • Observe all company safety rules, policies and procedures
  • Attend all required training courses
  • Participate in MAMT’s continuous improvement activities
  • Foster good employee relations
  • Perform all other duties as determined by the General Manager or designate
