About The Position

The Tool and Die Journeyperson position is responsible for performing work in one of several departments within the facility. Responsible for the accurate production of parts from engineering prints, including application of tolerances, as well as maintain and repair tools, dies, and other parts. Operations include but are not limited to milling, turning, grinding, heat treating, programming of CNC equipment, assembly, and try-out. Available Shifts: 2nd Shift or 3rd Shift - Hours may vary depending on assigned facility for the day. Will train up to 3 months on 1st Shift before moving to designated shift.

Requirements

  • Work requires extensive technical or specialized training such as that which would be acquired in the first two or three years of college or technical school.
  • 0 to 5 years of work experience preferred.
  • Lift up to 50 pounds frequently during an 8-hour work shift.
  • Bend, stoop, push, and pull in a busy work environment for up to an 8-hour work shift.
  • Climb a ladder and/ or scaffolding frequently during an 8-hour work shift.
  • Stand for up to an 8-hour work shift.
  • Grip, manipulate, and hold small parts with fingers.
  • Hear different types of sound/decibels/tone such as alarms, sirens, and/or mechanical equipment.
  • See without visual impairments (depth, peripheral, color and acuity 20/40 or better).

Nice To Haves

  • Familiar with Sheet Metal Fabrication and manufacturing processes is a plus.
  • Proven working knowledge of CAD software is required.
  • Welding experience is a plus.
  • State of Wisconsin Journeyperson card preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Experience in the operation of CNC and manual Lathes, Milling machines, Grinders, and general tool room equipment.
  • Must be able to utilize precision measuring tools.
  • Fits and assembles jigs, fixtures, tools, and dies.
  • Sets up, runs off, and tests tools and dies to produce a product to specification.
  • Troubleshoots and repairs machinery and die sets.
  • Reads and interprets blueprints or works from verbal or written instructions or from the part to be copied or fitted.
  • Comply with all company and federal safety rules, policies, and procedures to include wearing required safety equipment (PPE).
  • Respond to safety concerns and taking appropriate action.
  • Be able to perform in a team environment and also be self-directed as situations dictate.
  • Must be proficient with a computer and have good communication skills.
  • Operate a crane.
  • Be able to lift 50 pounds on a regular basis.
