See how your contributions will help transform vision into reality: Position Overview : The Tool Design Technician is responsible for designing tooling used across Mercury’s various manufacturing plants and processes . This position reports to the Tool Design manager, and will work closely with manufacturing engineering, machining/assembly operations, and maintenance/support services to design tooling that improves the reliability and safety of our manufacturing processes. Requirements

  • Proficiency in 3D modeling software (Inventor, SolidWorks, Creo, etc.)
  • Basic use and understanding of hand tools for 3D printer maintenance
  • Be able to design and detail fixtures that are clear and accurate
  • Be very thorough and detail oriented
  • Availability to work full-time (40 or more hours per week) through a full summer internship running from May to August 2026
  • Creative ability with strong mechanical aptitude
  • Basic office skills: Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.
  • Dependable, self-motivated and engaged learner
  • Permanent US Work Authorization required

Nice To Haves

  • Working towards as Associate Degree in Tool Design or Mechanical Design.
  • Basic understanding of tool making processes
  • Knowledge in machining processes

Responsibilities

  • Design and detail fixtures and tooling for use on manual machines, machining centers, assembly lines, paint lines, and layout operations.
  • Review design requirements with manufacturing engineers, machine operators, and shop supervision.
  • Communicate with outside tooling vendors.
