About The Position

Tool Crib Supervisor Job Summary: This role is responsible for supervising the daily operations of the tool crib, ensuring accurate inventory control, availability of tools and equipment, compliance with safety standards, and effective support of maintenance and production teams. The Tool Crib Supervisor will lead and develop tool crib staff while driving continuous improvement in inventory accuracy, organization, and service levels. Key Responsibilities: Supervise and coordinate daily tool crib operations to ensure timely issuance, return, and availability of tools, parts, and equipment. Lead, train, schedule, and evaluate Tool Crib Attendants to ensure consistent performance and coverage. Ensure accurate inventory control, including cycle counts, audits, and reconciliation of discrepancies. Establish and enforce tool crib procedures, standards, and best practices. Oversee receiving, unpacking, labeling, storing, and issuing of tools, equipment, and materials. Maintain accurate records of tools and equipment issued and returned, both manually and electronically. Monitor tool usage, loss, and repair activity; investigate and resolve missing or damaged tools. Coordinate repair, calibration, and replacement of tools and equipment; follow up on repair status. Communicate potential supply shortages, obsolete inventory, or critical needs to maintenance leadership and purchasing. Input and oversee accurate maintenance, repair, and inventory data in the computerized maintenance management system (CMMS). Support maintenance planning efforts by ensuring tools and equipment are staged and available for scheduled work. Drive continuous improvement initiatives related to inventory turns, organization, cost control, and working capital. Ensure full compliance with all safety policies, food safety requirements, and company regulations. Evaluate employee performance and implement personnel actions related to: compliance of company policies, safety standards, and good housekeeping through the application of fair and consistent accountability methods. Facilitate and recommend additional training on safety procedures, operational protocols, and equipment. All employees are expected to adhere to their scheduled working hours and attend work consistently to ensure smooth operation and effective teamwork. Qualifications: High School Diploma or GED required; technical or supervisory training preferred. 2+ years of previous supervisory or leadership experience in a manufacturing setting required. Prior experience in a tool crib, storeroom, inventory control, or maintenance support role. Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office and ERP/CMMS systems. Forklift certification and material handling experience preferred. Solid math skills for inventory verification and reporting. Ability to read and interpret prints, schematics, and technical documentation. Strong organizational, problem-solving, and decision-making skills. Ability to work independently while effectively leading a team. Excellent communication skills with maintenance, purchasing, and operations teams. Ability to multitask and perform in a fast-paced, production-driven environment. Willingness to work overtime and flexible hours as business needs require. Pre-employment background, physical and drug screen required. Work Environment: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to a variety of extreme conditions on the site including exposure to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration. The noise level in the work environment can be loud and hearing protection is required. The position regularly works near moving mechanical parts and in cold, hot, and outdoor conditions that include inclement weather, heat and humidity, and exposure to dust. Physical Demand: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. The position lifts heavy objects, walks and stands for long periods of time and performs strenuous physical labor under adverse field conditions. The employee lifts, pushes, pulls, or carries objects; uses abdominal and lower back muscles to provide support without fatigue. The position requires good manual dexterity (hand, hand with arms and fingers, two hands) and multi-limb coordination. The position requires the ability to quickly move arms and legs. The employee must have excellent stamina and vision.
