About The Position

Position Summary Key Responsibilities 1. Tool & Die Maintenance Perform preventive maintenance on all tooling, including cleaning, polishing, sharpening, and adjustments to maximize performance and extend service life. Disassemble, repair, refurbish, and reassemble worn or damaged tools and dies using appropriate hand tools (e.g., scrapers, wire brushes, brass bars, mallets, Allen wrenches). Reassemble dies by replacing bolts, stoning plates, and verifying proper fit, alignment, and function. Operate specialized equipment such as polishing tools, ultrasonic cleaning tanks, and extrude hone machines to achieve required surface and performance standards. Collaborate with the tooling team to troubleshoot issues and restore functionality to damaged or underperforming dies. Provide training and guidance to operators on the proper care, handling, and storage of extrusion dies. Perform other related duties as assigned. 2. Documentation & Inventory Control Maintain accurate records of tooling inventory, condition assessments, and maintenance history. Monitor tool usage to proactively identify repair, refurbishment, or replacement needs. Support continuous improvement initiatives by documenting best practices and recommending tooling process enhancements. 3. Quality Assurance Inspect and measure extrusion dies for wear, accuracy, and surface condition using precision instruments such as micrometers, gauges, and CMM equipment. Verify that tooling consistently produces extruded products within required tolerances and quality specifications. Partner with the quality control team to analyze tooling-related production performance and identify improvement opportunities. Clean, visually inspect, and log all incoming tooling from the production floor into the preventative maintenance (PM) system. 4. Safety & Compliance Adhere to all safety procedures when handling, installing, transporting, and maintaining heavy dies and tooling. Ensure proper use of PPE, lifting devices, lockout/tagout protocols, and other required safety measures. Maintain strict compliance with company policies, OSHA regulations, and industry standards. Promote a clean, safe, and organized work environment through proper housekeeping practices and hazard prevention.

Requirements

  • Demonstrated experience in tool and die maintenance, machining, or a related technical field.
  • Proficiency with hand tools, precision measurement instruments, and polishing/cleaning machinery.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude with excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Strong commitment to safety, teamwork, and continuous improvement.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of extrusion processes preferred.
