About The Position

Design and make tools primarily for short run /prototype work. Set up and trouble shoot, kick presses, 4-slide and punch press tooling. Precision grinding is required. Must be a self-starter, willing to work with minimum supervision. Attention to detail required, along with ability to shoot trouble. Our main facility in Northwest Chicago houses multiple etching machines and a thoroughly equipped CAE/CAD department. Our second facility, based in Elk Grove Village provides best-in-class tooling, forming, and stamping solutions. This 6,500 square-foot forming facility houses a complete tool and die shop, along with a stamping press and numerous machines to form etched blanks supplied by the Chicago location. Requirements

  • Proven experience as a Tool & Die Maker, heavily focused on milling and grinding.
  • Proficiency with both milling and grinding equipment.
  • Excellent understanding of machining principles and materials
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings (GD&T)
  • Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills

Responsibilities

  • Set up and operate milling & grinding machines
  • Interpret blueprints and engineering drawings to determine machining processes
  • Inspect finished parts using a variety of precision measuring instruments
  • Troubleshoot and repair tooling issues
  • Collaborate with engineers to optimize designs and processes
  • Design tool and dies
