About The Position

Since its founding in 1940 with the mission of providing a “unique opportunity for a summer of living and working in music” the Tanglewood Music Center has been the premiere summer music festival for young musicians in the United States. Around 130 TMC Fellows attend the TMC each summer to focus on their studies in six programs: Composition, Conducting, Instrumental, Library, Piano, and Vocal Arts. TMC Fellows reside on the campus of Miss Hall’s School in Pittsfield, MA and attend daily rehearsals, classes, and perform concerts on the Tanglewood campus nearby in Lenox. The TMC’s faculty and guest artists are world class and without parallel, and a summer at TMC is seen by many as the final link between a first-rate musical education and a full-time professional career. Join the staff of one of the world’s most prestigious music festivals as the TMC Personnel Manager! The TMCC Personnel Manager serves as the principal point of contact for all Fellows in the Tanglewood Music Center Orchestra (TMCO). This position reports to and assists the Dean of Fellows in the management of the TMCO and supervises the orchestra directly, coordinating with world class conductors, faculty, guest artists, library, and stage crew to ensure an amazing experience for every Fellow. Beyond the TMCO, the TMC Personnel Manager, is an important point of contact for all guest musicians visiting the TMC during the summer, coordinating their stays with the Residence Life Staff and staff at Miss Hall’s School. This is a perfect position for an aspiring arts administrator at the beginning of their career or an experienced orchestral musician dipping a first toe in the administrative world.
