About The Position

The Elementary Title I Math Coach supports improved student achievement in mathematics by working collaboratively with teachers, administrators, and support staff. The coach provides job-embedded professional learning, models effective instructional practices, and supports data-driven instruction aligned with state standards and Title I goal. The role focuses on building teacher capacity rather than serving as a classroom teacher of record.

Requirements

  • Exceptional knowledge of the needs of students.
  • Knowledge needed to read and interpret documents such as safety rules and to speak effectively with middle-aged students and/or employees in a school environment.
  • Knowledge of federal and South Carolina state laws and regulations.
  • Knowledge of effective and innovative instructional and student evaluation techniques.
  • Strong skills in classroom management, collaboration, and differentiated instruction.
  • Strong communication skills with students, staff, administration, and the public.
  • Understanding a child’s behavior and dynamics.
  • Skilled in problem solving and patience.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, staff and the community.
  • Ability to perform duties with awareness of all district requirements and Board of Education policies.
  • Ability to fulfill the dexterity and physical requirements of the work and effectively attend to students.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Ability to subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measurement, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Application of percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations is required.
  • South Carolina certification in Elementary Education (Grades 2-6)
  • Experience with differentiated instruction and inclusive teaching practices
  • Familiar with educational technology tools
  • Strong classroom management skills and a growth-oriented mindset
  • Must have and maintain a valid Driver’s License or ability to provide own transportation
  • Prior to beginning employment, negative tb test results must be provided

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with teachers to plan, implement, and refine high-quality math instruction aligned with state standards
  • Model effective math lessons and instructional strategies in elementary classrooms
  • Observe classroom instruction and provide constructive, non-evaluative feedback
  • Support differentiated instruction and interventions for diverse learners, including students receiving Title I services
  • Assist teachers in analyzing student data (formative, summative, and benchmark assessments)
  • Support the development and implementation of data-driven instructional plans
  • Help identify students in need of targeted math interventions
  • Design and facilitate professional learning sessions focused on effective elementary math practices
  • Support teachers in implementing research-based math curricula and instructional strategies
  • Provide ongoing coaching cycles tailored to teacher needs
  • Support implementation of Title I schoolwide or targeted assistance programs
  • Ensure instructional practices align with Title I requirements and goals
  • Assist with documentation and monitoring related to Title I math services
  • Serve as a resource for math curriculum, instruction, and assessment
  • Collaborate with administrators, interventionists, and support staff
  • Participate in school improvement planning related to mathematics achievement
