About The Position

Atlas Public Schools is excited to launch its new middle school beginning in the 2026-2027 school year, starting with 6th grade. We are seeking a passionate and skilled Middle School Math Teacher to join our founding middle school team. This is a new position and a unique opportunity for an educator who is excited to help build a strong middle school culture from the ground up. The Middle School Math Teacher will play a critical role in establishing rigorous academic expectations, systems, and instructional practices that will grow with our students as Atlas expands to additional middle school grades in future years. The Middle School Math Teacher creates a rigorous, engaging, and supportive learning environment where students develop strong conceptual understanding, problem-solving skills, and mathematical reasoning. This role supports students in building confidence and fluency in mathematics during a pivotal transition year.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Education, Mathematics, or a related field
  • Valid teaching credential or certification (middle school math preferred).
  • Strong understanding of middle school math standards and instructional best practices.
  • Ability to support students’ transition to increased academic rigor and independence.
  • Demonstrated ability to differentiate instruction and support diverse learners.
  • Strong classroom management and relationship-building skills.
  • Comfort integrating instructional technology into daily practice.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
  • Flexibility, resilience, and a genuine passion for teaching middle school students.
  • Provide an official transcript demonstrating graduation from an undergraduate institution.
  • Provide evidence of appropriate content certification or assessment (middle school math).
  • Pass a background check and complete the Family Care Safety Registry.
  • Demonstrate eligibility to work in the United States.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, prepare, and deliver rigorous and engaging math lessons aligned to middle school standards and curriculum.
  • Emphasize conceptual understanding, procedural fluency, problem solving, and mathematical discourse.
  • Use a variety of instructional strategies to meet the diverse academic and developmental needs of 6th grade learners.
  • Support students in building executive functioning skills such as organization, note-taking, and independent practice.
  • Establish clear expectations, routines, and systems that support a positive and structured middle school learning environment.
  • Build strong relationships with students to support academic engagement and positive behavior.
  • Foster a classroom culture rooted in respect, accountability, and collaboration.
  • Support students’ social-emotional growth during the transition to middle school.
  • Administer formative and summative assessments to monitor student progress.
  • Analyze student data to inform instructional planning and targeted interventions.
  • Provide timely, specific, and actionable feedback to help students grow academically.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to reflect on student outcomes and adjust instruction as needed.
  • Identify students who need additional academic or behavioral support and implement targeted strategies.
  • Collaborate with special education staff, interventionists, and support teams to meet individual student needs.
  • Provide small-group instruction and differentiated supports as appropriate.
  • Integrate technology tools to enhance math instruction, practice, and assessment.
  • Use digital platforms to reinforce concepts, track student progress, and support independent learning.
  • Stay current on instructional technology relevant to middle school math education.
  • Participate actively in professional development, coaching, and instructional planning.
  • Collaborate with grade-level and content-area colleagues to ensure alignment and coherence.
  • Contribute to the development of middle school systems, culture, and instructional practices as the program launches.
  • Reflect on practice and continuously seek opportunities for growth.
  • Maintain clear and consistent communication with families regarding student progress and expectations.
  • Participate in conferences, school events, and family engagement opportunities.
  • Partner with families to support students’ academic success and development.
