Functions include but are not limited to the following. Must be able to move freely between tasks depending on workload, season, etc.
Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Responsible for collecting WPR shoot tops in the field, preparing shoot tops in the lab for culture, and actual culture.
Assist in maintaining sterile lab environment with dishwashing, lab cleaning, some insect control.
Use of basic laboratory equipment (weighing scales, pH meter, stir plate, dispenser, autoclave) to prepare tissue culture media.
Responsible for job shadowing nearby labs.
Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Must be a Wonderful Scholar in Sophomore, Junior, or senior year of college.
• Enrolled in accredited graduate or undergraduate degree program with studies focused in Plant Science, Horticulture related field preferred.
• Must be 18 years of age.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Self-directed and able to work autonomously.
• Energetic and able to tackle new projects and ideas.
• Ability to write and present reports as requested.
• CA Valid Driver’s License.

Nice To Haves

• Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred, but not required.
