Requirements

  • Must be a Wonderful Scholar in Sophomore, Junior, or senior year of college.
  • Enrolled in accredited graduate or undergraduate degree program with studies focused in Plant Science, Horticulture related field preferred.
  • Must be 18 years of age.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Self-directed and able to work autonomously.
  • Energetic and able to tackle new projects and ideas.
  • Ability to write and present reports as requested.
  • CA Valid Driver’s License.

Nice To Haves

  • Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred, but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for collecting WPR shoot tops in the field, preparing shoot tops in the lab for culture, and actual culture.
  • Assist in maintaining sterile lab environment with dishwashing, lab cleaning, some insect control.
  • Use of basic laboratory equipment (weighing scales, pH meter, stir plate, dispenser, autoclave) to prepare tissue culture media.
  • Responsible for job shadowing nearby labs.
  • Other duties as assigned.
