About The Position

Primary Purpose: To enable students in the assigned area to pursue their education as smoothly and completely as possible in the absence of the regular teacher. Major Responsibilities and Duties: Instructional Strategies Maintain as fully as possible the established routines and procedures of the school and classroom to which he is assigned Supervises the lessons outlined and described in the Substitute Teacher’s Guide as prepared by the absent teacher. Consults with the building principal before initiating any teaching or other procedures not specified in the regular teacher’s plans. Verifies with the school secretary that his attendance will or will not be required on the following teaching day. Follows all policies, rules, and procedures to which regular teachers are subject and which good teaching practice dictates. Other Maintain confidentiality Maintain positive and effective communications and relationships with supervisors and colleagues. Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED
• Be dependable and of high moral character
• Ability to work well with children
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills
• Some experience working with children
