About The Position

The Tire Program Manager position has the overall responsibility for the entire tire program. This includes the financial and operational efficiency and success of the tire program. The Tire Program Manager is expected to oversee, lead, and set priorities for the Fleet Maintenance Team to ensure the tire program is being followed. All interactions will represent the company professionally.

Requirements

  • Minimum age - 18 years (in compliance with state/federal labor regulations).
  • Must have completed high school or equivalent.
  • Seven years of relevant experience, preferably managing tire programs and or part inventories
  • Travel to other facilities, vendor locations, and various tire manufacturing meetings is required.
  • Must be able to comprehend and comply with policies and comprehend instructions.
  • Must have excellent computer and typing skills, specifically Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and Outlook).
  • Tire failure analysis and casing identification training will be required within the first 60 days of employment, if not already completed.
  • Up to date on Federal DOT requirements for tire use on class 8 commercial vehicles
  • Must be able to read, write and speak the English language and communicate effectively with other employees and customers both verbally and in writing.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for ensuring all activities are in compliance with rules, regulations, policies and procedures.
  • Ensure all shops and vendors are following the tire program processes and procedures.
  • Set up and ensure monthly scrap analysis meetings are being held with a CR England representative present
  • Set up periodic fleet checks at all locations (CRE Shops & drop yards) and analyze all results for possible improvements
  • Visit all internal shops and perform a tire program audit to ensure the program is being followed
  • Ensure all CR England employed technicians are properly trained in tire failure analysis and tire / casing identification
  • Work with the purchasing manager and the shop managers to ensure tire inventories are correct to prevent any loss / shrinkage
  • Work closely with the New Truck / Trade Manager to ensure all tires removed or installed on trade trucks and or trailers are being accounted for and properly utilized within the fleet
  • Responsible for ensuring a high level of vendor efficiency and accountability by working with road service to resolve any tire problems with inventories or program guidelines promptly.
  • Regular communication and interactions with field operations team members, including technicians, service writers and road service staff to provide support, respond to inquiries and provide ongoing coaching to ensure our processes are being followed.
  • Conduct field visits and vendor audits, using the Vendor Audit form, to maintain relationships, service performance, and ensure program compliance.
  • Regularly visit new and existing tire providing vendors to maintain business partnerships.
  • Maintain documentation regarding all tire vendor interactions to ensure good follow-up.
  • Work with tire vendors and the Equipment Group to perform periodic testing - Ensure we are receive proper tire and casing credits when tires are removed at an on road vendor or truck stop
  • Through tire failure analysis training, ensure we are receiving maximum allowable warranty credits on failed tires and casings
  • Analyze financial and business data to identify opportunities to improve profitability; decrease loss, and determine priorities that adhere to the budget.
  • Oversee fleet maintenance warranty process and assist with resolving escalated issues; analyze the company’s warranty tire program to ensure receipt of expected value.
  • Conduct research for new tire initiatives and products that will enhance efficiency and lower costs for operating the company fleet.
  • Present current status of Fleet Tire Maintenance costs and initiatives to the company’s senior leadership team at monthly meetings and more frequently as requested.
