About The Position

The NC State Highway Patrol is seeking an enthusiastic team member to join our Personnel Unit as Time and Leave Technician. The Time and Leave Technician provides comprehensive administrative and operational support for a variety of personnel actions, position management, and payroll functions.

Requirements

  • Internal State Government Posting – Only current permanent and temporary NC State Government and/or University employees or layoff candidates with the State of North Carolina eligible for RIF priority reemployment consideration as described by G.S. 126 may apply.
  • Associate’s degree, typically in Human Resources or relevant field from an appropriately accredited institution AND 2 years of experience required; OR 3 years of progressive experience in Human Resources; OR equivalent combination or education and experience.
  • Qualified recommended applicant(s) must undergo and successfully pass: ·Criminal Background Investigation ·Drug Screening Test

  • Working knowledge of federal and state laws, and State policies, procedures and practices .
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others; to handle confidential matters with tact and discretion; to express ideas clearly and concisely; to exercise good judgment in analyzing situations and making decisions within area of responsibility
  • Ability to learn and apply rules, procedures, and practices for various human resources management activities or personnel actions.
  • Experience running time reports and correcting batch time errors.

Responsibilities

  • Processing and maintaining accurate records related to acting pay, keying actions, position data changes, promotions, transfers, and special assignments.
  • Ensures compliance with all relevant policies and procedures while facilitating efficient communication among staff, verifying paperwork, addressing pay and leave issues, administering training.
  • Supporting the overall functioning and integrity of the organization's human resources operations.
