About The Position

The Emergency Management Tier II Support Staff provides administrative and technical support in the collection, review, and management of Tier II chemical storage reports submitted by facilities across the city. This role assists with preparing and sending invoices, collecting and depositing payments, tracking delinquent facilities, and cataloguing Tier II plans for sites storing hazardous chemicals. The position supports broader emergency preparedness efforts under the supervision of the Health and Medical Program Manager.

Requirements

  • Knowledge Administrative and record-keeping practices.

  • Fundamentals of hazardous materials awareness and Tier II reporting.
  • Skills Skill in organizing information and tracking deadlines.
  • Skill in accurate data entry and document management.
  • Skill in clear written and verbal communication.
  • Abilities Ability to learn and apply regulations related to chemical storage reporting.
  • Ability to follow procedures and maintain confidentiality.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with staff, external partners, and regulated facilities.
  • Completion of High School or Equivalent.

Nice To Haves

  • Administrative or emergency management–related experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with the collection, processing, and management of Tier II chemical storage fees and reporting documentation.
  • Prepare and issue invoices; collect, deposit, and track payments from reporting facilities.
  • Track and follow up with facilities that are delinquent in meeting federal reporting requirements.
  • Support the review, organization, and cataloguing of Tier II plans for facilities storing hazardous materials.
  • Gain familiarity with environmental safety standards, hazardous materials regulations, and Tier II reporting processes.
  • Support the development and maintenance of information related to hazardous materials preparedness and response, including facility emergency response plans.
  • Participate in Emergency Operations Center (EOC) activations, drills, and exercises as opportunities arise.
  • All other duties as assigned.
