About The Position

Liberty Common School is seeking teachers interested in teaching middle and upper elementary (grades 3 rd -6 th ) August 2026 at the Liberty Common Elementary School (Plato campus). Liberty Common School is a public, tuition-free school chartered by the Poudre School District in Fort Collins, Colorado utilizing the Core Knowledge© curriculum and timeless principles of classically oriented education. The Plato campus currently enrolls over 590 students’ grades k-6. Liberty Common School follows the Core Knowledge© curriculum in grades k–8. This curriculum encompasses language arts, mathematics, science, history, geography, fine arts, and physical education. The curriculum is characterized by content-rich instruction, cumulative knowledge, content-specific lessons, and coherent sequencing. The school’s mission is to provide excellence and fairness in education by teaching a contextual body of organized knowledge, the skills of learning, and the values of a democratic society. This is done through parental choice, partnership with teachers, and student acceptance of responsibility for her/his academic effort. Elementary teachers are classroom professionals responsible for planning and delivering the entire educational program in the classroom and being part of an active faculty dedicated to ambitious student achievement. Successful applicants will work closely with other instructors and teaching assistants. Applicants should be dedicated to the mastery of an academic discipline and knowledge-based curriculum. FLSA CLASSIFICATION: Salary Exempt EMPLOYMENT STATUS: Regular, full-time WORK HOURS: 40 hours per week PAY RANGE: $50,000-$75,000 REPORTS TO: Principal REVISION DATE: February 2026

Requirements

  • Desire and willingness to learn about Liberty’s history and philosophy and uphold and promote the mission and values of the school.
  • Demonstrated competence in a relevant discipline.
  • BA/BS, or equivalent combination of relevant education and experience.
  • Ability and willingness to teach the Core Knowledge Sequence©.
  • Demonstrated effective classroom-management skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Outlook, internet utilization, and general aptitude for learning new software applications.
  • Ability and willingness to work effectively with peers and team members to improve student academic achievement.

  • Experience with the Core Knowledge© Curriculum and demonstrated ability to support effective instructional delivery.

Responsibilities

  • Research and gather resources and materials needed for lesson units.
  • Set up classroom materials and equipment.
  • Enforce administrative policies and rules governing students.
  • Conduct testing and evaluate student work.
  • Conduct student interventions.
  • Monitor, assess, and report on student’s progress.
  • Communicate clearly and respectfully with teachers, other faculty, students, and parents.
  • Tutor and assist children individually or in small groups to help them master assignments and to reinforce learning concepts presented by teachers.
  • Maintain inventory of materials, equipment, or products.
  • Adapt communication and teaching styles when necessary to support individual students and their families.
