Thermoforming Process Optimization Technologist Picture your day on the production floor: you arrive at the thermoforming lines before a startup, shoulder-to-shoulder with the Process Team Leader. Together you dial in parameters, confirm material behavior, and bring a new job smoothly into production. Mid-shift, you huddle with corporate engineers to plan an R&D trial for an upcoming product. Before the day ends, you fine-tune a process, document the changes on process definition sheets, and coach teammates on best practices—all while keeping safety and quality front and center. What you’ll do Proactively identify opportunities to enhance thermoforming process capability and throughput on the floor. Partner with the Process Team Leader to resolve ongoing processing issues and stabilize lines. Support setups and help bring lines into steady, repeatable production. Collaborate with corporate engineers on new product development and R&D trial requests, participating in job start-ups. Continuously improve overall product quality using established programs and standards. Apply a thorough understanding of material behavior in the thermoforming process to optimize settings. Assist with commissioning and start-up of new equipment, providing hands-on process support. Maintain, update, and organize process definition sheets and the associated tracking system. Operate thermoforming equipment and peripherals; use basic hand tools confidently for adjustments. Maintain high technical proficiency gained through experience and on-the-job learning rather than prolonged coursework. Accurately record, track, and maintain required process and quality information. Perform other duties as necessary. Project Management: Provide direction and support during manufacturing introductions and apply a thorough understanding of the NPD process.
