About The Position

The Thermoforming Department Supervisor position leads the day-to-day operations of the Thermoforming Department in a 24/7 plant environment. With general direction from senior leadership, this supervisor coordinates and inspires multiple work teams to meet Thermoforming Department daily production goals - with adherence to all safety, quality and production protocols. The position requires good forecasting of material needs, scheduling, and coordination with other plant departments for Results and People management skills, with consistent coaching, performance management and confliction resolution. In a well-established, organized department, the role leads 15 -25 factory staff, 3 Team Leads and a department Scheduler. To be successful, must maintain excellent, helpful working relationships with leadership colleagues across all functional areas of our close-knit work community.

Requirements

  • High school diploma required with formal additional technical/ vocational/ leadership trainings helpful.
  • Minimum of 3 years of progressive team leadership/ management experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Basic knowledge and understanding of business accounting and finance.
  • Must have some basic, prior ERP experience (Salesforce & SAGE helpful) and intermediate Microsoft Office skills, i.e. to write business communications, do budgeting in Excel, and work within our systems.
  • Must be able to build trust and credibility with those that this role leads and with colleagues by demonstrating our DALB Core Values.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior supervisory experience in plastics, thermoforming and/or printing preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Ensures execution on production goals, standards, and metrics for the department, and communicate expectations to department employees.
  • Responsible for giving, overseeing, and participating in all employee evaluations and related human resources functions such as communicating company policies, approving timecards, etc.
  • Supervises the department’s team leads in monitoring progress against schedules, quality conformance, production levels, and safety performance.
  • Coach, train, develop, and guide department team leaders and plant staff.
  • Manages achievement of the department’s day-to-day operational goals with cost containment, efficient productivity, and quality standards
  • Works with senior leadership, maintenance and quality control, to ensure that equipment is functional, safe and is replaced when needed, with forecasting of equipment needs based on production projections.
  • Oversee the maintenance of all vacuum forming molds and CNC routing fixtures.
  • With regular inter-department meetings and communications, monitors production schedule adherence.
  • Collaborates closely with the master production and department scheduler to ensure efficient use of resources, both personnel and equipment.
