About The Position
Archer is an aerospace company based in San Jose, California building an all-electric vertical takeoff and landing aircraft with a mission to advance the benefits of sustainable air mobility. We are designing, manufacturing, and operating an all-electric aircraft that can carry four passengers while producing minimal noise. What you’ll do: Own, design, model and deliver a novel thermal system for our Hybrid aircrafts thermal design Select the right technology, materials and for a very complex and novel thermal system Design it so it’s light, performatively and cost effective Prove that the system is as good as you think it is - through test definition Work with stakeholders to deliver the complete system Manage design lifecycle, including interfacing with manufacturing and test teams Attend and present your designs to stakeholders Interface with supply chain, quality, manufacturing, and stress / FEA engineers
Requirements
- BS / MS / PhD in a related scientific or engineering field.
- 5+ years experience in mechanical design
- Strong fundamentals and demonstrated understanding complex system design
- Experience with stress and finite element analysis
- Experience with Siemens NX and suite of tools
- A systematic approach to problem-solving and the ability to communicate complex, technical rationale to multidisciplinary stakeholders.
- Extremely self-motivated with the ability to work independently and lead technical initiatives
- Strong written and verbal communication skills; experience writing comprehensive technical reports and documents.
- Proficiency in PDM and PLM environments
Nice To Haves
- Prior experience with hybrid-electric aircraft, turbegenerators, eVTOLs, or hybrid automotive powertrains.
- Familiarity with FAA or EASA certification
- Knowledge of simulation model validation, model calibration, and uncertainty quantification methods
