About The Position

Responsible for the day-to-day operations of the behavioral therapy department. Works closely with the Therapy Coordinator to ensure delivery of quality therapeutic services to all patients within Laurelwood. Collaborates with Assistant Nurse Manager and Behavioral Health Access Center Supervisor to resolve any barriers to service delivery while focusing on process improvement. Coordinates the legal process and works directly with legal to ensure adherence with regulatory requirements.

Requirements

  • Full licensure in the state of Georgia required (LPC, LMFT, LCSW).
  • Masters degree in Psychology, Counseling, Social Services or related field that meets the requirements for licensure in the state of Georgia.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of Behavioral Health experience.
  • At least one year of leadership experience.
  • Ability to plan, organize, control, and execute management responsibilities

Responsibilities

  • Maintains open channels of communication to foster the positive aspects of the attitudes, needs, and issues affecting the staff, volunteers, patients, families, and NGHS departments.
  • Responsible for the operations of Behavioral Therapy department to ensure compliance with state, federal, local and organizational guidelines.
  • Ensures departments are prepared for all surveys and are deficiency free.
  • Ensures that the facility’s current clinical policies are consistent with Laurelwood and NGHS policies and procedures.
  • Follows established procedures for the employment of personnel with qualifications commensurate for assigned responsibilities.
  • Makes recommendations for improvement to supervisors
  • Ensures that personnel records maintained for each employee are current regarding NGHS and state and federal guidelines.
  • Ensures the verification by personnel of all applicable current licensure/certification and educational background for all staff members and contract services personnel as required.
  • Ensures that the Behavioral Therapy Department ensure patients’ needs are met either through facility resources or through arrangement with appropriate community resources.
  • Ensures adherence to patients’ rights and responsibilities policies; ensures that all staff members are aware of these rights and responsibilities.
  • Provides that staff appropriately document the rights and responsibilities as required.
  • Conducts readiness huddles daily; schedules staff meetings as needed.
  • Monitors and recommends process improvements to strengthen patient care and service delivery.
  • Implements corrective action as necessary or ensures appropriate departments follow through.
  • Ensures that written personnel policies and job descriptions are available to all employees, are discussed with each new employee by appropriate department supervisor during an initial orientation, and are reviewed when revisions occur.
  • Comprehends departmental expense/revenue reports and authorized staffing reports.
  • Continually monitors staff morale and patient attitudes to ensure that they are positive; reviews patient questionnaires (as appropriate) and recommends and/or implements corrective actions as identified.
  • Directs basic community relations efforts through referral development and customer service.
  • Meets all deadlines as agreed upon for special reports and other programs.
  • Continually updates knowledge of trends in youth and adult Behavioral Health.
  • Maintains current knowledge of state, federal, and DNV regulatory requirements and guidelines.
  • Utilizes appropriate management skills to plan, implement, control and evaluate clinical services.
  • Effectively resolves problems with department staff, and with other department leaders.
  • Promptly investigates patient, visitor, and/or physician complaints; suggests and/or implements corrective actions for resolution as appropriate.
