About The Position

Kentucky Correctional Psychiatric Center is located in LaGrange, Kentucky and performs competency evaluations for persons in Kentucky. We are the only forensic hospital in the state, serving all 120 counties. Our staff makes a real difference in the lives of patients who are often in need of care. Our team has a 37.50-hour work week and includes health insurance, life insurance, paid leave and retirement benefits. We are expanding our Recovery Services and are in search of self-motivated and energetic Therapy Program Coordinative Assistants who possess the skill, knowledge, and desire to be part of our team.

Requirements

  • High school graduate.
  • Three years of therapeutic or patient care experience.
  • College will substitute for the required experience on a year-for-year basis up to a maximum of two years.

Responsibilities

  • Oversees the work of TPAs and BHTs within recovery services department.
  • Trains TPAs and Behavioral Health technicians on their duties according to facility policy, procedures and directives.
  • Makes staff assignments to assure continuous program coverage.
  • Coordinates staffing of and leads patient group sessions in accordance with treatment plans designed and administered by a qualified mental health professional.
  • Contributes to patient recovery by leading psychoeducational skill development.
  • Coordinates staffing and provides support and supervision to patients during basic Activities of Daily living (ADL) and IADL(Instrumental) care and safety monitoring according to patient needs.
  • Assigns staff escorts of patients to groups and appointments on and off grounds.
  • Utilizes therapeutic communication and de-escalation techniques and works within hospital and departmental standards.
  • Assures completion of documentation related to patient participation and progress within established timeframes and per federal, state and facility guidelines.
  • Leads quality improvement initiatives related to direct patient care.
  • Collaborates with treatment team to plan and provide treatment.
  • Attends and participates in required staff and treatment team meetings.
  • Other duties as assigned.
