To learn more about Macomb County benefits click here CLASSIFICATION TITLE: Therapist-Mobile Crisis/Crisis Stabilization SALARY: $66,559.45 - $86,089.08 DEPARTMENT: Community Mental Health Opening Date: 02/23/2026 Closing Date: 03/07/2026 12:00 a.m. This position supports the MCCMH Mobile Crisis Unit and must participate in an on-call rotation, including nights and weekends as needed. FLSA STATUS: Non-exempt; Overtime pursuant to Collective Bargaining Agreement EMPLOYMENT RELATIONSHIP: Just cause subject to probationary period CURRENT HOURS AND STARTING TIME: Full-time (37.5 hours per week) position. The start time for this position is currently 8:00 a.m, with occasional flexibility afforded due to varying shifts. GENERAL SUMMARY: Under direction, conducts screenings, intake assessments, and case management services within a Person-Centered Planning approach to adult mentally ill, adult developmentally disabled, and children with serious emotional disturbance. Requests referrals for ongoing services within Macomb County Community Mental Health (MCCMH) direct operated or contract programs. Maintains clinical and administrative records. Coordinates, consults, and provides liaison work with other agencies and systems. Ensures service authorizations are current and implements program goals and activities. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Performs direct clinical services, including screening of referrals or walk-in consumers, and assessments for children, adolescents, and adults. Responsible for crisis intervention, treatment plans, case management, and transition services. Performs home and community-based interventions, including transportation of consumers. Performs indirect clinical services including complete case documentation following MCCMH policies and procedures. Confirms diagnosis to make the most suitable and medically necessary recommendations and assists client and/or family in obtaining appropriate resources. Provides case management services for consumers to assist in obtaining necessary services and coordinates those services until the consumer is transitioned to a service provider. Maintains accurate clinical documentation, including assessments, progress notes, treatment plans, and other required documentation. Ensures accurate administrative paperwork, including staff activity logs, statistical reports, attendance, mileage reports, and case lists. Participates in agency and system staff meetings. Conducts thorough, accurate, and clinically sound screenings with consumers, guardians, and family members in a timely manner. Requests authorizations for services provided, monitors utilization of services, requests re-authorizations or continuations as needed. Serves on community mental health or community-based committees. Supervises the work of department interns as needed. Performs administrative responsibilities of a Clinical Supervisor as needed. Required to participate in on-call rotation as directed. Operates an automobile to perform assigned job functions. Performs related duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Master’s Degree in Social Work, Counseling, Psychology or Doctorate in Psychology or a directly related mental health field from an accredited college or university
  • Two (2) years of clinical experience working in a mental health setting
  • Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW), Limited Licensed Master of Social Work (LLMSW), Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), Limited License Professional Counselor (LLPC), Temporary Limited Licensed Psychologist (TLLP), or Licensed Psychologist (LP)
  • Possession of required state licensure appropriate to position and ability to meet privileging and credentialing guidelines
  • Possession of a valid Michigan driver’s license and operable, insured automobile for authorized travel
  • Knowledge of: Michigan Mental Health Code/401 criteria
  • Mental illness, serious emotional disturbance, and developmental disabilities
  • Techniques to de-escalate/interact in potentially dangerous situations
  • Applicable computer applications
  • Skill in: Using good professional judgment for the welfare and safety of our consumers
  • Providing excellent and timely customer service
  • Performing a variety of duties, often changing from one task to another

Nice To Haves

  • Previous community mental health experience with children, adolescents, or adults
  • Certification with the Michigan Certification Board for Addiction Professionals (MCBAP) or an approved development plan
