About The Position

Be part of a team where your clinical skills change lives and support lasting recovery. Join our TEAM as a Drug and Alcohol Therapist! This full‑time, on‑site position is based at our Parkside Recovery Program on 4th Street in Philadelphia and reports directly to the Clinical Supervisor. The Drug and Alcohol Therapist provides individual and group therapy to individuals receiving substance use disorder treatment, including individuals with co‑occurring (dual diagnosis) disorders. This role maintains a clinical caseload and ensures individuals receive the therapeutic services necessary to support sobriety, recovery, and ongoing engagement in treatment.

  • Master’s degree in in clinical psychology, counseling psychology, psychology, addictions studies, social work or related field with specialty or concentration in counseling
  • Actively working towards a credential through PCB (i.e., CAAC, CADC, CAADC, CCS) or be actively working toward licensure or certification. Licensure or certification will need to be achieved within two to three (2 - 3) years of hire, depending on requirements. Employees must complete and maintain certification required by regulations and offered by Merakey within the required timeline. Failure to successfully complete and maintain license and/or certification and associated continuing education requirements will prevent you from being able to fulfill this role.
  • 1 – 3 years counseling experience in a health or human service agency, preferably in a drug and alcohol setting
  • You will work onsite, Monday-Friday: 7 am to 3:30 pm

Responsibilities

  • Treatment – Delivers individual and group therapy; assesses clinical needs and readiness for change; engages resistant or disengaged individuals; manages caseloads and treatment progress; applies strong clinical and motivational interviewing skills; maintains accurate, compliant documentation and professional boundaries.
  • Case Management – Collaborates with case management staff to ensure continuity of care and appropriate community linkages; provides case management support as needed.
  • Program Operations / Administration – Maintains timely communication and compliant documentation; meets productivity standards; adheres to ethical, regulatory, and confidentiality requirements; participates in supervision, training, and quality improvement activities; completes other assigned duties.
