About The Position

Position Summary The Therapist serves residents, guests, and students of SDRM by providing clinically sound, trauma-informed therapeutic services that support emotional, mental, and spiritual wholeness. This role delivers individual (1:1), family, and group therapy, as well as class instruction and training, in alignment with ethical and legal standards of care. The Therapist partners closely with Mission Academy students and the Lighthouses to promote healing, stability, and successful program completion, while advancing the Mission’s Vision and Values through ongoing personal, professional, and spiritual growth.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in Social Work or a related Social Sciences field required
  • Registered with the California Board of Behavioral Sciences (AMFT or ASW required)
  • Clinical supervision provided for candidates pursuing licensure
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills with attention to detail
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and exercise sound judgment
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment
  • Demonstrated willingness to learn, grow professionally, and adapt

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working with individuals experiencing homelessness, addiction, mental illness, and/or co-occurring disorders preferred
  • Training in Trauma-Informed Care, Motivational Interviewing, and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) preferred
  • Bilingual ability preferred

Responsibilities

  • Provide individual (1:1), family, and group therapy services
  • Deliver therapeutic classes and training to residents and students
  • Conduct clinical assessments and maintain accurate documentation
  • Supervise and support interns, as assigned
  • Collaborate with Mission Academy and Lighthouse teams to support program completion
  • Make referrals for higher levels of care when clinically appropriate
  • Ensure services comply with ethical, legal, and professional standards
  • Represent and uphold the Mission’s Vision and Values
