About The Position

The Therapeutic Intake Specialist is responsible for conducting comprehensive psychiatric diagnostic evaluations (CPT 90791) for new patients entering Ally Psychiatry’s care. This role serves as the critical first point of contact in the clinical process, ensuring thorough assessments that support accurate diagnosis and effective treatment planning. The Therapeutic Intake Specialist collaborates with prescribing providers and the broader clinical team to facilitate seamless transitions into ongoing care.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in Social Work, Counseling, or a related behavioral health field from an accredited program.
  • Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW) at minimum. Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) or Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) also accepted. Must hold an active, unrestricted license in the state(s) of practice.
  • Experience conducting diagnostic evaluations or clinical assessments in a behavioral health setting preferred.
  • Familiarity with the DSM-5-TR and standard psychiatric diagnostic practices.
  • Proficiency with electronic medical records (EMR) systems.
  • Strong clinical assessment and diagnostic skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with attention to thorough, accurate documentation.
  • Ability to build rapport quickly with patients and families in an intake setting.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills to maintain productivity targets.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team environment.
  • Professional demeanor and commitment to patient-centered care.
  • Adaptability and comfort working in a fast-paced, growth-oriented organization.

Nice To Haves

  • LMSW, LCSW or LPC licensure.
  • Prior experience in an outpatient psychiatric or behavioral health clinic setting.
  • Experience with diverse patient populations across the lifespan.
  • Knowledge of evidence-based screening tools and assessment instruments.
  • Bilingual capabilities are a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive psychiatric diagnostic evaluations (90791) for new patients, including gathering detailed clinical history, presenting concerns, psychosocial background, and mental status examination.
  • Complete thorough clinical documentation in the EMR in a timely manner, adhering to Ally Psychiatry’s documentation standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Identify provisional diagnoses and develop initial treatment recommendations based on assessment findings.
  • Collaborate with prescribing providers (psychiatrists, psychiatric nurse practitioners) to ensure continuity of care and smooth handoff following the intake evaluation.
  • Screen for safety concerns including suicidal ideation, homicidal ideation, and abuse/neglect, and follow appropriate protocols when risk is identified.
  • Provide psychoeducation to patients and families regarding diagnoses, treatment options, and community resources as appropriate.
  • Maintain a consistent schedule to support patient access goals and organizational capacity targets.
  • Participate in clinical team meetings, case consultations, and quality improvement initiatives.
  • Adhere to all HIPAA, state, and federal regulations governing behavioral health practice.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support the mission and operations of Ally Psychiatry.
