About The Position

The Therapeutic Assistant I will be responsible for providing 24-hour supervision, care of and documentation of the activities in the residential area. Among these duties are observing and documenting patient behavior, acting as a role model for patients, interacting with patients, providing the patient assistance with activities of daily living, ensuring patient safety, reinforcing treatment plans and Moody Neurorehabilitation Institute (Moody Neuro) policies, assisting therapy staff with modules, and maintaining various checklists, contracts, and daily log sheets. The Therapeutic Assistant I will uphold the mission, philosophy, and goals of the organization while maintaining strict confidentiality of personnel and patient data and information in the performance of assigned duties.

  • Hold current CPR and first aid certifications.

  • Ability to work rotating shifts.
  • Ability to assist patients with transfer in a wheelchair.
  • Certified in Non-Violent Crisis Intervention (NCI)
  • Current/valid Driver's license.
  • High School diploma or GED preferred

Nice To Haves

  • Prefer at least two years' experience in Residential Behavioral Rehabilitation Program, or 1-2 years experience with disabled population dealing with cognitive problem or 30- 60 hours of college will be substituted for experience.

Responsibilities

  • Observe, monitor, intervene, report, and document in patient’s EMR patient's social and interpersonal behavior and functional ability to perform as an independent individual in the community setting.
  • Monitor and assist in residential ADL activities.
  • Maintain accurate documentation and records in the patient’s EMR including ADL check sheets and intake/output.
  • Carry out therapeutic activities designed by the clinical staff.
  • Implement behavior management programs including the Levels system.
  • Assist in the transport of patients to and from appointments, work, field trips, recreation activities, etc., as needed.
  • Observe and document patient responses on ADL outings, such as shopping trips.
  • Assist therapies upon request.
  • Serve as a role model, at all times, maintaining professional dress and conduct.
  • Participate in emergency procedure drills, including fire drills, evacuation drills, etc.
  • Maintain confidentiality.
  • Attend in-services and staff meetings.
  • Assist in emergency situations including the implementation of fire alarm procedures and assist with the provision of first aid treatment in case of illness or injury.
  • Provide a safe and secure environment for patients.
  • Discharge duties in accordance with Moody Neuro organizational policy, CARF and other accrediting bodies
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records in Paycom, including timecard maintenance, employee scheduling and availability, PTO requests, and related workforce management activities.
