About The Position

Management position responsible for overseeing and assisting with the overall day to day operation of the Radiopharmaceutical treatments at MTN sites. The Theranostic Coordinator is responsible in collaboration with the Director of Imaging Operations for providing leadership, staff oversight, training and development and management of radiopharmaceutical treatments to assure safe and accurate administration. He/she su pports and adheres to Tennessee Oncology’s mission, vision, and values. He/she works with the Assistant Director and Director of Imaging to assure compliance for all governing agents to include but not limited to: OSHA, ACR, TN Department of Health, etc.

Requirements

  • Radiation safety knowledge.
  • Ability to safely handle radiation spills, radiation contamination and patient care instructions post theranostic treatments.
  • Ability to document in EMR systems appropriately.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to effectively communicate and establish collaborative relationships with physicians, patients, clinical and administrative staff, and the public.
  • Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations.
  • Knowledge of clinic office procedures, medical practice and medical terminology.
  • Knowledge of organizational policies, procedures, systems and objectives.
  • Ability to interpret, adapt and apply guidelines and policies and procedures.
  • Ability to organize, delegate and supervise.
  • Ability to recognize, evaluate and solve problems.
  • Ability to plan, implement and manage multiple projects simultaneously.

  • Graduate of an accredited school of Nuclear Medicine Technology, or equal years of working experience in Nuclear Medicine and/or PET.
  • NMTCB certification or ARRT certification in Nuclear Medicine required
  • Minimum one year Nuclear Medicine work experience required. May waive with Director of Imaging approval.
  • Current Certification in Basic Life Support required.
  • Must be willing and able to lift up to 25 pounds.
  • Must be willing to travel to satellite clinics when necessary.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of Theranostics at TO sites.
  • Manages and oversees the nuclear medicine technologists administering the treatments.
  • Assists with staffing, scheduling and flow of the clinic to ensure safe administration and quality patient care.
  • Works closely with specialty support services on coordination of schedules and drug ordering.
  • Works closely with the radiation oncologists to ensure radiation safety standards and precautions are met.
  • Consults with radiation oncologists on abnormal lab values for theranostic patients.
  • Ensures patient charting in the EMR is consistent and accurate.
  • Delivers and oversees theranostic treatments, ensuring they are being given in a safe, effective manner while appropriately handling, storing, and disposing of radioactive materials.
  • Assists with planning, directing, organizing, and coordinating the clinical and administrative activities of the radiopharmaceuticals.
  • Provides oversight and management of all radiopharmaceutical drug inventory, including ordering, storage, and decay.
  • Measures, administers, and records isotope dosage following established departmental procedures.
  • Follows radiation safety techniques in usage and disposal of radioactive isotopes in accordance with departmental procedures.
  • Explains procedures to patients and addresses their concerns.
  • Orients and mentors new staff members.
  • Attends meetings as required.
  • Supports and communicates TNONC strategic goals and priorities to staff as requested
  • Works with Director of Imaging Operations to enhance operational effectiveness, emphasizing cost containment, high quality patient care and patient/employee satisfaction.
  • Creates and maintains an environment of trust, integrity, open communication, teamwork and respect.
  • Establishes a culture of accountability and praise and recognition.
  • Maintains competencies to be in staffing as needed.
  • Works collaboratively with others who interact with the clinic as well as with vendors, contractors, and building maintenance.
  • Works closely with the Radiation Safety Officer to ensure compliance.
  • Helps provide coverage for imaging sites as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.
