About The Position
SUMMARY As a contract employee, you are bound by the contents of your contract as well as the BMCHS Faculty Handbook which requires your signature. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES The following duties and functions, as outlined herein, are intended to be representative of the type of tasks performed within this classification. They are not listed in an order of importance. The omission of specific statements of the duties or functions does not exclude them from the classification if the work is similar, related or a logical assignment for this classification. Other duties may be required and assigned. Will have a strong academic background in Catholic theology and be able to communicate, model and promote the Catholic faith as articulated in the Scripture, Tradition and Magisterium of the Church. Exemplify commitment to the spiritual life through daily personal prayer as well as frequent participation in the Sacraments; and will be able to model, teach and form the same in their students. Demonstrate strong skills for relational ministry; will provide a compelling and relatable personal witness for high school students’, will be able to make course material relevant and compelling to students’ lives, and will build healthy relationships with students while maintaining appropriate boundaries.. Demonstrate curriculum knowledge and the ability to follow standards based instruction in a resourceful manner, to plan and deliver engaging learning opportunities and activities for maximum effectiveness. Be proficient in the daily use and integration of technology in the educational environment as Bishop Moore Catholic High School is a 1:1 iPad school. Be a skilled communicator and have the ability to work effectively with students, parents, peers, administrators and others. Have the ability to assess levels of student achievement, analyze test results, and deliver instruction to varied learners.
Requirements
- Must be a faithful practicing Catholic.
- Master’s level degree in theology is preferred; relevant experience may be substituted for some education, so long as the applicant demonstrates a strong background in theology. Non-degree-related catechetical or theological formation may also be considered.
- Valid Florida teacher certification or eligibility to be certified is considered.
- Employment is contingent on the applicant passing a full background check.
- Knowledge of curriculum and instruction.
- Ability to manage personnel.
- Ability to implement policy and procedures.
- Ability to interpret data.
- Should be prepared to teach in some/all of the following areas: morality, scripture, dogmatics particularly christology and ecclesiology, sacraments, social justice, world religions.
- Ability to evaluate instructional programs and teaching effectiveness.
