About The Position

Teach full-time in a liberal arts environment course such as Introduction to Technical Theatre, Theatre Appreciation, Design Communication, Rehearsal and Performance, Design II: Scenery & Costumes, Design II: Lighting & Sound. Teach electives within the major such as Stage Makeup, Stage Management, and Scene Painting. Mentor student capstone projects. Design Scenery and Lighting for department productions. Collaborate as appropriate with department technical staff in the costume and scene shops. Attend technical and dress rehearsals and performances as required. Supervise and train student stage managers and technicians throughout the design and rehearsal process Prepare, manage and balance the production budget Serve on Theatre and Dance department committees, advise students, and perform other customary faculty duties. Instruct courses in varied locations, at varied times, and via various media commensurate with department and university needs. Engage in scholarly research or creative achievement to enhance knowledge of field. Provide evidence of continuing preparation and study in the field to enhance teaching abilities. Contribute to student growth and development including student advising. Provide service to the university and community including the program, the department, the college, the university, and the greater community. Salary Range: $64,963 - $186,620; Commensurate with Rank, Qualifications and Experience

Requirements

  • M.F.A. in Theatre Design and Technology Field
  • Evidence of completed scenic and lighting designs at the academic or professional level.
  • Proficiency in industry standard software e.g. Lightwright, Vectorworks/AutoCAD, QLab etc.
  • Demonstrated experience leading or training successful student technicians.
  • The successful candidate must be able to lawfully accept employment in the United States by the day employment begins.
